ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Responsible for building a positive and vibrant campus life and creating community across campus through co-curricular programming and activities.
- Designs, executes, manages and assesses leadership development opportunities for students to enhance their involvement as citizens of both the campus and the wider community
- Plans, implements and evaluates a comprehensive campus life calendar.
- Provides assistance, support, and advice in the planning and execution of student-planned activities.
- Plans and executes large scale campus-wide traditions including Welcome Days, Halloween Carnival, Luminarias, Family Game Night, Student Rush, the Student Leadership Awards Reception, and Spring Bash.
- Oversees and provides leadership and guidance to student organizations. Guides student groups through the registration process, the activity request process, and provides assistance in event planning.
- Advises the Campus Activity Board, attends their meetings and develops/implements training as needed. Serves a resource to aid in planning and implementation of CAB activities.
- Organizes, promotes and implements student events and activities.
- Trains, assigns, directs, supervises, evaluates and disciplines Student Engagement & Campus Life staff. Devotes a majority of work time to supervisory duties.
- Customarily and regularly directs the work of two or more other employees; makes recommendations to hire and promote direct reports; Conducts annual performance reviews of all direct reports.
- Prepares budgets; maintains and monitors expenditures; provides guidance in the distribution of allotted budget funds.
- Assists in college retention and completion efforts; mentors student leaders in the achievement and completion of academic and personal goals.
- Develops, implements and evaluates the department’s Student Services Learner Outcomes to assess student development and learning.
- Selects, trains, mentors and supervises department student employees, Campus Activity Board, and other student leaders.
- Develops, implements and assess a robust schedule of civic engagement activities on campus.
- Facilitates the management of the student activities lounge and meeting rooms.
- Performs related duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a bachelor’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. Masters degree preferred.
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience.
