Job Description

The Industrial Engineering Technician supports the Industrial Engineer in planning and implementing improvements to product flow within the distribution center. This includes optimizing slotting, observing and updating work standards, and troubleshooting using data from the Labor Management System (LMS) and Warehouse Management System (WMS).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist the Industrial Engineer with facility-based tasks and improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with IE, Operations Manager or DC Manager to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of all operational processes.
  • Support the development and maintenance of accurate labor standards and work measurement systems.
  • Address method changes and their impact on labor standards.
  • Ensure team members have the necessary tools and conditions for success.
  • Update Blue Yonder LMS to reflect current or new standards.
  • Daily maintenance of the Blue Yonder system to resolve issues and balance hours with Workday.
  • Drive initiatives aimed at achieving world-class supply chain operations.
  • Recommend logistics policies, procedures, and program improvements.
  • Prepare recommendations for senior management review.
  • Analyze LMS and WMS data to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Plan and execute slotting changes based on data and strategies.
  • Maintain regular communication with facility management.
  • Document process improvements, including SOP development and updates.
  • Provide on-site support and issue resolution as needed.

SUCCESS METRICS

Success in this role will be measured by the following metrics:

  • Support the development of engineered standards and programs related to the performance management program.
  • Support the development of continuous improvement methods and strategies that support customer focused distribution

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s Degree in a technical field (e.g., Industrial Technology) preferred or 3–5 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior distribution center experience or training preferred.
  • Flexible availability across shifts, departments, and locations
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement
  • Good verbal and written skills to communicate with TMs and all levels of management.
  • Works with management and supervision in the evaluation and development of processes and proven ability to deliver results.
  • Assist with developing new methods and procedures.

LEADERSHIP / SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • None

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and PowerBI.
  • Experience in DC Operations and with HighJump WMS a plus
  • Bilingual Team Members (particularly Spanish-speaking) a plus

TRAVEL

Up to 10% based on organizational needs

Compensation Range

The good faith estimate for this role is between 21.00 USD and 28.00 USD per hour for a new team member.

The rate offered depends on a number of factors, including geographic location, experience in retail, automotive knowledge, education, leadership roles, and other skillsets ideal for this position and shift differential (if applicable).
