Overview The HR Specialist is responsible for administering employee leaves, workers’ compensation, and benefits programs. This role supports core human resources functions, including FMLA and other leave administration, onboarding, and employee relations. The HR Specialist fosters cross-departmental collaboration and builds strong working relationships with leaders across the organization. Manage the full lifecycle of workers’ compensation claims, including reporting, documentation, coordination with insurance providers, and return-to-work planning. Partner with third-party vendors to administer FMLA, ADA, and other leave of absence programs in accordance with legal requirements and internal policies. Track and maintain leave records, ensuring accurate coordination with payroll and benefits teams. Serve as contact for employee HR-related inquiries, providing timely and accurate information and support. Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS, ensuring data integrity, compliance, and accurate reporting. Administer and coordinate employee benefits programs, including health, dental, life, disability, retirement, and flexible spending accounts, ensuring accurate enrollments and changes. Develop and lead employee communication initiatives related to benefit renewals, enrollment, and plan changes, with guidance from HR leadership. Coordinate benefit-related activities with internal departments and external vendors, ensuring timely resolution of coverage, billing, and eligibility issues. Provide resolution support for employee and vendor inquiries, contract clarifications, and billing discrepancies. Respond to and resolve help desk tickets related to benefits, workers’ compensation, leave administration and other HR related questions in a timely and professional manner. Perform all duties in compliance with contracts, state and federal regulations, company policies, and applicable regulatory standards. May be required to drive company vehicles, maintain insurability through the company’s auto insurance provider, and complete vehicle safety training. Occasional travel may be required. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field and two years of HR experience, or four years of equivalent HR experience. Must have experience with HRIS/ATS systems and demonstrated knowledge of leave administration, workers’ compensation, and benefits. PHR/SPHR certification preferred. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
