The Team You’ll Work With: The Office of the First Deputy ensures that City government runs efficiently and focuses on many of the administration’s top priorities – from creating opportunities for young people to strengthening the city’s civic infrastructure – the office works in partnership with stakeholders inside and outside of city government to develop, scale, coordinate, and deliver policies, plans, and operations in an equitable and sustainable way.
The Problems You’ll Solve
- Work closely with other staff in the First Deputy Mayor’s Office, and coordinate significant inter-agency collaboration, to build buy-in and facilitate effective implementation of these initiatives.
- Drive analytical structuring of hypothesis-based problem-solving for complex strategic or operational issues, including data analysis and visualization.
- Develop detailed data-driven plans to achieve goals and outputs of strategic projects.
- Engage internal and external stakeholders to identify and prioritize activities required and coordinate implementation of these activities.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks, and analytically structure and problem-solve issues that may arise during execution of these projects.
- Track and report out on project plans, and support broader updates to senior internal and external stakeholders as required, through preparation of materials, coordination of meetings, etc.
- Identify cross-cutting change management needs, and design and coordinate implementation of change management activities associated with special projects.
About You
- You will be reporting to the Senior Advisor for Efficiency and Operations.
- You will be responsible for collaborating across city agencies to design, plan, and manage implementation of efficiency projects that improve service delivery. These projects will include a variety of initiatives to enhance strategy and operations, or more tactical efforts to problem-solve and sustainably address important issues that arise in the course of business. Projects will involve new business strategies, policies, processes and supporting technology, data, human resources and training, and will frequently require analytical structuring and quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- You are a strategic thinker and structured problem-solver, able to drive change and innovation while effectively juggling diverse responsibilities and multiple, competing priorities.
- You will keep a record of facilitating organizational initiatives with a focus on program and project management, stakeholder buy-in, cross-functional teaming, process streamlining and efficiency improvements, and resource optimization.
- You have the ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, and effectively translate complex issues and information for staff at differing levels and diverse stakeholders and audiences.
- You have strong skills in strategic planning, strategy and policy development, and program and project management.
- You have the ability to quickly build content knowledge in new areas.
- You are knowledgeable with data and process fluency.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 5+ years of experience.

- Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory or liaison responsibilities?
- Do you have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent approved by a state's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question "2" above?
