Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Humanities and Arts Department invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor in Modern European History for the 2026-2027 academic year, beginning in August 2026. We especially invite scholars working on Europe since 1700, deploying transregional, international, comparative, and/or global perspectives and methods. We are particularly interested in scholars with a demonstrated record of teaching who can contribute to the department’s thematic areas of focus on gender, sexuality, and women’s studies; and/or histories of science, technology, and medicine.JOB DESCRIPTION
Job responsibilities will include:
Teaching 6 courses and 2 capstone inquiry seminars in History and International and Global Studies.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in History is preferred; terminal degree in other relevant fields will be considered.
- Candidates should have earned their PhD by August 15, 2026.
- A track record of successful classroom teaching at the university level.
- The ability to work creatively and collaboratively across disciplines with faculty, staff, and students of various experience levels.

Compensation:
$70,000 - $78,000 per year. Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity.
