Summary:
As an integral part of the Strategic Marketing and communications department, the Graphic Design Specialist I will assist in the creation of marketing materials that support patient and donor acquisition and retention as well as brand marketing efforts. The specialist will work directly with the UX/Graphic Design Specialist to conceptualize and produce print and digital creative assets to support all marketing initiatives. Our design specialist must develop an understanding of Cook Childrens Promise to improve the health of every child in our region, and communicate that promise in innovative and creative marketing collateral pieces and web/digital designs. Responsibilities also include helping to maintain and evolve the Cook Childrens brand and develop marketing specific materials and templates that can be used System wide.The role will assist in packaging and delivery of projects assigned to our team of freelance designers in order to meet deadlines while maintaining our quality and brand standards. Individual must be comfortable presenting work to partners.Able to understand and adhere to departmental and system processes.Self-sufficient and able to handle multiple projects.Comfortable working directly with interdisciplinary team.Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite - highly proficient in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.Four-color print design background with experience in preparing digital files for print.Flexibility to deal with unanticipated projects that have tight turnaround times by adjusting schedules for other projects and clearly communicating those changes to teammates.Able to take direction from clients and teammates. Confident in bringing ideas to the table. This is not a position where all ideas will be written down and handed off; the artist will be responsible for helping to bring projects to life.Positive attitude, loves coming to work.
Education: Associates degree or art school certification in graphic design, web design, visual communication, advertising or related field required. Bachelor degree preferred. 0-3 years of related experience; creative agency background, health care and/or nonprofit experience a plus. Training in fine arts/graphic design. Knowledge of design programs including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and other industry standard software. Comfort on both Mac and PC platforms. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work flow. Ability to analyze information, prioritizes work, and make decisions. Creativity, enthusiasm, flexibility, and ability to meet deadlines and manage a variety of projects simultaneously. Must be diplomatic when dealing with challenging clients and teammates.
