The Opportunity
The inaugural Associate/Assistant Director of Financial Aid and Enrollment Analytics is an integral member of our growing admissions, enrollment, and marketing team, helping Avenues New York enroll right-fit students and families each year. Avenues now operates the largest financial aid program among New York City independent schools, with nearly $24 million in need-based scholarships supporting approximately 25% of students in the upcoming school year. This role ensures the strategic administration of our financial aid program, supporting both prospective and current families while stewarding a generous but finite aid budget. As an enrollment analyst, this individual will transform data into insight and proactively build reports, dashboards, and analytical views that help the team better understand enrollment opportunities and challenges and make informed, data-driven decisions.
Reporting to the Director of Enrollment Operations and Analytics, the successful candidate will join a caring, cohesive, dedicated, fun, hard-working, and exceptionally talented team of admissions professionals.
What You’ll Do
As Associate/Assistant Director of Financial Aid and Enrollment Analytics, you will:
Manage all aspects of Avenues' financial aid program under the guidance of both our Head of Enrollment Management and Managing Director (CFO/COO)
- Primary file review for the majority of new and current family aid applications
- Communications with all aid applicant families through their process, including management of the main financial aid inbox
- Coordination of all financial aid committee and planning meetings
- Updates to all financial aid documents and messaging to support new and current families in their aid application process
- Work with enrollment communications and operations to ensure timely notifications and communications about financial aid application deadlines and decisions
- Provide counsel and support to new and current families navigating the aid application process, including appeals
- Maintain an impeccable record of decisions, data, and follow-ups for analysis, audits, and tracking
Support high-caliber school enrollment analytics by transforming data into insight
- Build additional reports, dashboards, and views, which advance our understanding of enrollment opportunities and challenges
- Proactively analyze funnel and retention data to be in front of emerging trends, both tailwinds and headwinds
- Coordinate a series of weekly and monthly reporting deliverables
- Continuous research on school enrollment and market trends
- Collaborate closely with leaders of the admissions, enrollment, and marketing teams, along with the business and planning teams to meet or exceed ambitious enrollment goals
- Ensure every family feels cared for and respected, regardless of the aid outcome
- Collaborate with our marketing and communications colleagues to best share how right-fit families may afford an Avenues education
- Support and drive continuing enrollment efforts and strong retention by maintaining relationships with families and campus leadership to best support student persistence and success
- Convey the unique value of an Avenues education in nuanced, compelling ways, and guide families through their journey from inquiry through admission and enrollment
- Immerse yourself within the Avenues community, developing authentic and positive relationships with key stakeholders (current students, parents, and faculty) to support both the admissions of new students and the ongoing enrollment of current families.
What You Bring
- 3-5+ years of related professional experience, with a deep understanding of financial aid, enrollment management, data analytics, and/or finance and planning
- Expertise in utilizing quantitative and qualitative data, systems, and processes to drive enrollment
- A track record of achieving and exceeding ambitious goals, especially amidst growth and change
- Natural ability to create and sustain relationships
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills; you communicate with audiences clearly and compellingly both one-on-one and in larger group settings
- A near-fanatical commitment to delivering the best possible student and family experience
- Remarkable professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information, and decisions
- A hands-on, entrepreneurial approach; you are eager to roll up your sleeves and tackle challenges as part of a high-performing and collaborative team
- The ability to thrive within a fast-paced school environment; you are self-motivated, intellectually curious, open-minded, and solution-oriented
- Fluency in either Mandarin or Spanish is a plus
