Job description

We are looking for a Technical Sales Representative responsible for the business development and consultative sale of solutions for the mechanical characterization of surfaces and materials, focused on research, development, quality control, and production applications.

This position supports customers in industry, laboratories, research centers, universities, and technical departments that need to evaluate surface mechanical properties such as hardness, elastic modulus, coating adhesion, scratch resistance, friction, wear, coating thickness, and the mechanical behavior of advanced materials.

This role combines prospecting, opportunity management, technical demonstrations, and sales closing. We are looking for a profile with a strong commercial mindset, technical learning ability, and the interpersonal skills to engage with technical users, buyers, and decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the commercial development of the Mechanical Surface and Materials Characterization product line within the assigned territory.
  • Prospect and develop new customers in sectors such as metalworking, coatings, automotive, materials, biomedical, mechatronics, academia, R&D, and quality control.
  • Manage the full sales cycle: opportunity identification, technical qualification, solution presentation, proposal development, negotiation, and closing.
  • Deliver technical-commercial presentations for solutions related to indentation testing, nanoindentation, microindentation, scratch testing, tribology, and coating thickness measurement.
  • Coordinate and execute equipment demonstrations, with support from application specialists when required.
  • Advise customers on the selection of solutions according to their applications, materials, samples, processes, and measurement objectives.
  • Develop long-term relationships with researchers, laboratory managers, quality engineers, production engineers, procurement teams, and decision-makers.
  • Meet quarterly and annual sales targets, as well as the commercial KPIs defined by management.
  • Keep CRM records up to date with opportunities, activities, forecasts, commercial follow-up, and pipeline stages.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities with other company product lines.
  • Provide post-sales follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction and identify new business opportunities.
  • Participate in technical and commercial training programs in Mexico and abroad.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, seminars, workshops, and specialized technical events.

    • Professional background in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemistry, Physics, Nanotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Industrial Engineering with a technical focus, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in B2B technical sales, preferably in analytical equipment, scientific instrumentation, laboratory equipment, metrology, materials characterization, mechanical testing, or solutions for industry and research.
    • Experience supporting customers in industry, laboratories, research centers, universities, or quality control areas.
    • Ability to understand customer technical needs and translate them into value-based commercial proposals.
    • Strong communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical profiles: researchers, engineers, quality leaders, production teams, laboratory staff, procurement, and management.
    • Highly results-oriented profile with a clear focus on achieving commercial objectives.
    • Experience in prospecting, opportunity follow-up, forecasting, negotiation, and sales closing.
    • Experience using CRM/ERP tools for commercial management.
    • Availability to travel frequently within and outside the country.
    • Valid driver’s license / driving ability and availability for road travel.
    • Intermediate conversational English is required.

    Preferred Experience

    • Previous technical or commercial experience in any of the following environments will be considered an advantage:
    • Characterization of materials, surfaces, coatings, or thin films.
    • Mechanical testing, hardness, microhardness, nanoindentation, or laboratory testing.
    • Hard coatings, PVD, CVD, DLC, surface treatments, or cutting tools.
