What you bring to the table
Beck is looking for a talented Human Resources Generalist to join an extraordinary HR team in our corporate headquarters located in Downtown Dallas. This hands-on, adaptable, and forward-thinking individual will support both our traditional salaried workforce and growing Self-Perform division. The Human Resources Generalist will serve as a key business partner to operations leaders, providing HR support across employee relations, performance management, recruiting, onboarding, workforce planning, compliance, and employee development. This role will be responsible for implementing and/or performing a variety of HR functions which may include employee onboarding and offboarding, recruiting/staffing, implementation of policies and procedures, training and development, employee relations, and HR administration and support.
The job involves the following essential functions:
Provide HR counsel in the areas of compensation, organizational development, recognition programs, succession planning, training, leadership, employee relations, performance management, and work environment issues
- Partner closely with Self-Perform operations leaders to support a craft workforce, providing guidance on employee relations, workforce planning, performance management, attendance issues, and policy interpretation
- Support craft experience in partnership with Blue Services Leadership and CPO
- Manage onboarding processes for both salaried and craft employees, including new hire paperwork, background checks, drug screens, I-9 completion, E-Verify submissions, orientation, and first-day readiness activities
- Coordinate and facilitate onboarding and integration programs to ensure a positive and compliant onboarding experience for craft and salaried employees
- Lead and support employee performance management efforts, including coaching managers on performance expectations, documentation, corrective actions, and employee development planning
- Administer and guide progressive discipline processes, ensuring consistency, fairness, proper documentation, and compliance with company policies and employment laws
- Conduct workplace investigations and attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, performance discussions, and terminations
- Assist with the full life-cycle recruiting process for salaried positions, ensuring a superior candidate experience, including sourcing candidates, conducting phone interviews, coordinating interviews, and managing candidate communications
- Partner with hiring managers and operational leaders to develop recruiting strategies that attract qualified craft and salaried talent in competitive labor markets
- Monitor workforce needs and proactively support staffing forecasts, labor planning efforts, and recruiting initiatives for ongoing and future projects
- Prepare exit paperwork, conduct exit interviews, and respond to unemployment claims
- Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvement in efficiency of department operations and services performed
- Support ad hoc projects within the HR team
You also meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related degree
- In Lieu of degree, 3+ years of experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Recruiting, or a related field
- Experience supporting field operations, construction environments, manufacturing, skilled trades, or craft labor populations preferred
- Experience conducting workplace investigations, performance management discussions, and progressive discipline processes
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated team player
- Flexible and adaptable with an ability to perform on a team in a changing work environment
- Exposure to employment law and federal/state compliance regulations
- Effective verbal and written communicator
- Ability to objectively coach employees and management through highly complex, difficult, and emotional issues
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel; experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems preferred
