Senior Research Analyst

This role will be based at Menara Skymind. 

We are looking for a Senior Research Analyst to join our Manufacturing Technology team in Penang. 

• Scoping : use customer-centric feedback to direct minor scope changes, ensuring research remains fresh and relevant while understanding customer needs and questions to enhance research cycles and add value
• Writing and Thought leadership – providing qualitative analysis to support and justify data, focusing on change and development, and developing concise outputs using text plans and structured outlines while discussing the impact of technology and key market trends in written deliverables or market briefing sessions. 
• Sales support –  Partner with the sales team to generate new leads, progress existing leads, and support renewals, using scoping insights to evolve the research offering and align with client needs. 
• Event support – Collaborate with the events team to showcase research and strengthen Omdia’s position in the industry, gathering intelligence at events to develop new research propositions.
• Primary research – Conducting interviews with key industry contacts across various company types, attending trade shows, participating in face-to-face visits to build relationships and gather insights, and maintaining a detailed log of interactions and feedback.
• Secondary research –  Utilizing sources such as trade journals, in-house research, trade associations, public reports, financial releases, and company press releases to support primary research.
• Building base data –Build credible base data with sufficient market player coverage, creating estimates, ensuring consistency with related data and markets, and logging all assumptions clearly.
• Forecasting – Generating market projections using primary and secondary research supported by credible sources, logging assumptions, and creating narratives around market development, opportunities, and risks.

• Experience in an analyst position or related industrial automation position
• Ability to use the phone for outreach and developing relationships (internal and external)
• Excel – solid grasp of Excel for data building, data manipulation, and pivot table creation
• Experience working collaboratively towards a common goal
• Ability to think outside the box in approaching problems to find innovative solutions
• Prioritising time for competing tasks
• Writing detailed reports in a structured and concise way to capture key research highlights
• Highly developed primary research interview and data gathering skills
• Multitasking – ability to prioritise competing tasks effectively
• Collaborative approach to exploit internal resources
• Ability to piece together data from multiple sources and to connect the dots
• Use assumptions and logical thinking to create estimates and forecast
