The listed pay range or pay rate reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).

40Position Overview
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepare immobilization devices in accordance with physician prescription. Positions patient for initial definition of tumor volume to be determined by physician. Films specified treatment volume for review and approval by physician.
- Marks/tattoos appropriate body anatomy for daily positioning on linear accelerator. Documents or captures patient measurements and machine treatment parameters for dosimetry planning and calculations accurately. Acquires CT datasets for patient positioning, contours and setup parameters.
- Positions patients for treatment and verifies setup per physician prescription.
- Verifies beam parameters, ancillary aids and blocking including record and verification systems on machine and the patient's computerized treatment plan, before initiation of radiation beam.
- Maintains accurate records of daily treatments and other records as required. Documents timely any corrections resulting from changes in the originally prescribed course of treatment. Detects unsatisfactory setup, resolves and reports to physician and physics in a timely manner.
- Ensures that verification images are obtained at appropriate intervals. Recognizes the need for adjustments in ports when comparing simulation films and portal films. Acquires CT data sets for patient contours and setup parameters.
- Performs daily QA on linear accelerators, simulator and CT to verify accurate output of designated parameters. Reports erratic operation of equipment to physics. Verifies operation of emergency shut offs and interlocks. Reports any discrepancies to physics.
- Participates or provides assistance with in-vivo dosimetry measurements and special dosimetry.
- Maintains professional development and professional certification and works towards enhancement of professional development. Attends department in-services/conferences and meetings. Keeps abreast of new technology in the field and assist in the development of new techniques, participates in research projects or educational demonstrations.
- Communicates effectively and respectfully with patients, family, medical staff, care team members, supervisors and outside contacts in a timely manner to facilitate effective treatment.. Provides education and support appropriate to patient level of understanding and motivation. Includes family/caregiver in education and training as appropriate.
- Demonstrates collaboration in communication with team members and is open to feedback and receptive to change as evidenced by team feedback.
- Accurately schedules patients for treatment and assists in collecting and documenting information for patient billing.
- Partakes in report writing, data collection, quality assurance activities, performance improvement projects and credentialing surveys as requested. Participates in community health events as requested.
- Participates in training and evaluations of radiation oncology affiliate students.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Associate's degree or required certification. Graduate of an JRCERT approved school of Radiation Therapy.
- Experience: Less than one year as a staff therapist in a radiation therapy department with experience in linear accelerators and patient simulation.

- Knowledge and Skills:
- Special Training: Ability to operate equipment with minimal supervision. Simulator, CT-simulation, computerized linear accelerators.
