As our Senior Engineering Manager, Checkouts, you’ll play a critical leadership role shaping the platforms that power Zip’s checkout experiences, merchant integrations, SDKs and Checkout APIs. Partnering closely with Product, Design, Commercial and Technology leaders, you’ll influence strategy, drive delivery and help define the architectural direction of one of Zip’s most important customer and merchant ecosystems.

What you’ll own

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of talented engineers, creating an inclusive, high performing culture focused on growth, accountability and innovation
  • Drive delivery of the Checkouts roadmap, balancing speed, quality and long term scalability
  • Partner closely with Product and Design leaders to identify opportunities, test ideas and deliver experiences that improve merchant onboarding and customer conversion
  • Shape architectural direction across checkout platforms, APIs, integrations and distributed systems
  • Influence technical strategy and delivery outcomes across multiple teams, stakeholders and business domains
  • Champion engineering excellence, operational resilience, security and observability while enabling rapid product innovation
  • Leverage AI and automation to improve engineering productivity, platform reliability and delivery efficiency
  • Manage dependencies, risks and trade offs across complex initiatives to ensure successful delivery of strategic outcomes
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, technical leadership and knowledge sharing across the broader engineering organisation

  • Proven experience leading and scaling engineering teams delivering highly available, customer facing platforms
  • Demonstrated success delivering large scale engineering initiatives across multiple stakeholders, teams and business domains
  • Strong technical expertise across modern cloud native architectures, APIs and distributed systems, with experience in technologies such as .NET, React and AWS
  • Experience building and evolving integration ecosystems, developer products or merchant facing platforms at scale
  • Ability to influence technical strategy, architecture and delivery outcomes beyond direct reporting lines
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build alignment across technical and non technical audiences
  • A track record of balancing customer needs, commercial outcomes and engineering excellence in fast paced environments
  • A mindset that embraces AI and new tools to adapt, learn and grow.
