Job Description
The Global Data Governance Manager works collaboratively with the business and the department leads to maintaining organization’s master data. The focus is to:
- Implementation and maintenance of master data management and governance processes and solutions to support business users and oversees a team of MDM analysts that analyze and enrich master data. This role is based fully onsite out of our Mississauga office location and reports to the Global Director, IT Strategy and M&A. Benefits

- Lead and manage the global MDM function, overseeing day-to-day operations of MDM activities and ensuring alignment with enterprise data strategies.
- Directly manage and coach a team of 9 MDM Analysts, fostering a high-performing, collaborative, and accountable work environment.
- Partner with IT, Business, and ERP teams to support data readiness for major initiatives (e.g. ERP rollouts, mergers/acquisitions, system integrations).
- Define and implement processes to enable the creation and maintenance of Global Master Data
- Define and select the solutions to support the MDM processes.
- Create and maintain a multi-year roadmap to implement the defined solutions and processes.
- Monitor and refine processes and solutions based on feedback.
- Coordinate with other IT teams to implement solutions.
- Coordinate with 3rd Party solution providers when needed.
- Lead projects related to MDM process and solution improvement.
- Implement KPIs and reporting framework to track master data operations, SLA adherence, and continuous improvement across master data operations.
- Drive automation and standardization initiatives across the MDM landscape to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Server as a global point of contact for master data inquiries, governance matters, and change requests.
- Collaborate with Global Data Manager and Data Architecture teams to ensure alignment between operational MDM and enterprise data strategy. Data Governance
- Desing and document the Data Governance Framework aligned with organization master data needs.
- Define and maintain data governance policies, data standards, and data control procedures across all domains but with focus on the three key master data domains: products/items, suppliers, and customers.
- Create, maintain and enhance master data assets within our different ERPs, including technical, business and operational metadata. Data Quality
- Ensures global data quality and integrity across key domains (e.g. Customer, Vendor, Product, Material, Finance) by developing and enforcing MDM standards and policies.
- Monitor and resolver master data quality issues across business units, escalating as needed to maintain compliance and minimize disruption.
- Implement KPIs and reporting framework to track data quality.
- Develop and implement strategies for maintaining and optimizing the organization data quality processes based on best practices
- Manage data quality projects by understanding the business strategies, priorities and challenges. Asses current data quality capabilities to come up with appropriate solutions and deliver the expected value
- Identify opportunities for Data Quality improvement initiatives with business partners to address data quality challenges including execute data correction activities; engage correct business teams who may need to update their business process to mediate data quality issues
- Establish data quality metrics and monitor compliance.
- Lead initiatives to improve data accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Data Oversight
- Ultimate approver for global master data as per the MDM workflow processes.
- Escalation point for Global Master Data Issues
- Develop and monitor Global MDM Key Process Indicators (KPIs) to monitor trends and identify improvements. People Management
- Provide people care for the global team of MDM analysts in North America and Europe
- Ensure MDM analysts performance targets align with organizational and department goals.
- Performance Management for all MDM analysts
- Develop and deploy training plans for MDM analysts.
- Define the MDM organization and manage recruitment for MDM positions.
- Ensure that department level goals are achieved. Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of overall IT experience in data management, master data, and metadata management
- Strong proficiency in database management systems (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, etc.)
- Proficiency on data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
- Experience with data analysis tools and reporting software, MDM software preferably Informatica IDQ
- Knowledge of master data management and governance leading practices
- Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
- Ability to develop and prepare technical specifications and documentation
- Experience working with ERPs including JDE, SAP, Business Central and Dynamics 365
- Experience working with the manufacturing and/or building industries is desired.
- Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
- Exceptional written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate innovative ideas and concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences
- Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent experience
- 15% travel to Europe locations is required for this role
