Job description
ABOUT PIVOTAL HEALTH
Pivotal Health is the leading technology platform that helps healthcare providers get paid fairly in an increasingly complex reimbursement landscape.
Today, many providers face persistent underpayment from health insurance companies, despite delivering high-quality care. While processes like IDR (Independent Dispute Resolution) were designed to promote fairness, they’re often administrative-heavy, time-consuming, and difficult to navigate without the right tools.
Pivotal Health combines software, data, and service into a seamlessly integrated, AI-driven platform that simplifies these complex reimbursement workflows. We help providers efficiently dispute underpaid claims, reduce administrative burden, and recover the reimbursement they’re entitled to; without adding more work to already stretched teams.
Our full-service IDR solution is just the starting point. We’re building solutions that enable providers to operate with clarity, control, and confidence across the reimbursement journey.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for the first ever Product Analyst to sit at the center of how our business understands itself and improves over time.
This role is on our Product team and works closely with Product, Analytics, Client Success, Finance, and Operations. You'll own the reporting and analysis that helps us track performance across our IDR (Independent Dispute Resolution) operations — win rates, collections, cash flow, and the operational drivers behind them. You'll build dashboards, investigate trends, and help teams understand not just what's happening, but why, and what to do about it.
We're not looking for someone who generates reports and moves on. We want someone with a genuine business storytelling instinct — who thinks about what a client or vendor would care about given a specific problem, chooses the right things to investigate, and connects systems thinking to the numbers. The best work in this role closes the loop: here's what the data shows, here's what it means, here's what we should do.
This is an early and high-leverage seat on a team that's building its product analytics foundation. The work you do will directly shape how leadership makes decisions and how our operations scale.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Product Reporting & Dashboards
- Build and maintain BI dashboards that track key metrics across IDR product & operations - win rates, collections, cash flow, and operational throughput
- Work with product lead on executing on: A/B testing experiments, tracking results, documenting what worked and what didn’t
- Develop client-facing and internal reporting that gives teams clear visibility into how we're performing as a partner
- Define and standardize brand new metric definitions so there's a shared, consistent understanding of what we're measuring and why
Analysis & Business Insight
- Investigate performance questions with Product and Operations— surface root causes, identify what's working and what isn't, and translate findings into clear recommendations
- Think about what clients and vendors would care about given a specific problem, and frame your analysis around those stakes — not just the structure of the data
- Bring systems thinking to your work: understand how changes in one part of operations ripple through to outcomes downstream
- Tie findings back to business impact — what you're seeing, why it matters, and what the team should focus on next
Operational and Data Integrity
- Support data integrity and consistency across operational systems — helping ensure that the numbers teams rely on are accurate and trustworthy
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting workflows and automate manual processes as the business scales
WHO YOU ARE
- 2–5 years of experience in a product, operations, or a technical or analytical role.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with large, complex datasets; SQL experience a must
- Experience building dashboards with BI tools (Metabase, Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
- Strong analytical instincts — you find the trend, ask why, and keep pulling the thread
- Business storytelling instinct: you think about what would matter to a client or stakeholder, not just what the data technically shows
- Systems thinker — you understand how pieces of a business connect and how decisions play out over time
- Comfortable translating ambiguous business questions into structured, investigative analysis
- Clear communicator who can explain findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Curious and prepared — you do your homework, ask sharp follow-up questions, and come to conversations with a point of view
- High ownership mindset; you take initiative and follow through without needing constant direction
- Comfortable operating in a fast-moving startup environment where structure is still being built
EXTRA CREDIT EXPERIENCE
- Background in consulting, banking, or other analytically rigorous environments
- Experience supporting finance, revenue, or operations teams with performance reporting
- Familiarity with financial systems, payments, or healthcare reimbursement workflows
- Experience in healthcare or a regulated industry — knowledge of the IDR process, relevant legislation, or how automation is shaping this space is a genuine plus
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE PROCESS
Part of our interview process includes a live case exercise. You'll be shown a dashboard or dataset and asked to walk us through your thinking: what stands out, what you'd want to investigate, what you'd double-click into, and how you'd tie it back to what matters for the business. We're not evaluating structure for its own sake — we want to see your train of thought and your instinct for what's worth chasing.
We expect candidates to come prepared. That means understanding the IDR process, knowing the legislation it's built on, and having a point of view on how automation is shaping where this industry is headed.
WHY YOU’LL LOVE WORKING HERE
We’re a collaborative, low-ego team on a mission to make healthcare reimbursement fairer for providers. While we primarily hire around our core hubs–Los Angeles and New York–we remain open to exceptional talent outside those regions. Remote and hybrid flexibility varies by role and team, and is outlined in each job description.
If you’re excited by solving complex problems and making a real-world impact, we’d love to hear from you.
Benefits Include
- Competitive compensation, including equity
- Full health, dental, and vision coverage
- Retirement savings plan through 401(k)
- Flexible time off
