Overview

Provides supervision and instruction to children in early childhood classroom. Develops and implements lesson plans and daily schedules; maintains all applicable licensing and accreditation guidelines; assesses children's learning and development, and coordinates services and communicates regularly with families.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Child Development Associate Credential from a college or technical school; Certificate of Mastery in Early Childhood Education, 18 college credit hours in Early Childhood Development, Human and Family Services, Elementary Education, Family and Consumer Science or other related field.
  • One (1) year of related experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
  • Possess or ability to obtain Entry Level Child Care Training (ELECT) within 90 days of employment.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
  • Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for childcare.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Develops and implements lesson plans/daily schedules in accordance with guidelines to ensure children are productively occupied at all times. • Maintains all applicable licensing and accreditation standards which includes maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment in the classroom. • Supervises and directs Early Childhood Teachers in daily activities. • Assesses children's learning and development. • Provides appropriate guidance and support to children. • Coordinates services and communicates regularly with families regarding the health and development of the child. • Maintains all applicable records. • Performs other duties, tasks, or services consistent with this position as assigned.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY • This position directly supervises Early Childhood Teachers. • Sets work procedures, priorities, levels of responsibility, and objectives.
