Job description

What You'll Do Principal is looking for a Retirement Sales Strategist to be responsible for retirement plan finalist presentation strategy/consulting for prospective clients and advisors, in partnership with sales and service team members. You'll develop, recommend, and implement sales plans with primary focus in our mid-market space, as well as facilitate, coordinate, and guide all customers from finalist presentation thru commitment. As a strategic resource providing thought capital, standard methodologies and a preparation process to client facing partners to develop, refine and deliver consistent, yet customized messaging promoting Principal during sales meetings (focused $25M-$200M marketplace with an emphasis in opportunities with multiple products from our TRS platform which includes Defined Contribution, Defined Benefit, ESOP, Equity Compensation, and Non-qualified plans.). Here are a few examples of the kinds of things you will do when you join us: Coordinate and influence the retirement team to assess the market, the competition, and our position in the marketplace. Identify gaps, opportunities, and points of leverage. Develop sales strategies and present recommendations to market segment leaders, sales management, and product champions to gain approval. Gather feedback from the finalist presentation and strategically manage the follow-up process with your client facing partner. Partner with leadership in each of our representative retirement division areas to identify and train our presenters for finalist presentations. Facilitate the development and maintenance of our key messaging to differentiate Principal in our presentations. Partner with sales reps on site visits (DSM & CLT), including, but not limited to coordination of presenters, content creation, prep of team, and facilitating the site visit in-person. This will include prospective client site visits as well as firm/advisor/consultant due diligence site visits. Perform other job-related duties and special projects as needed, including representing the sales team in various projects and work groups. Who You Are We’re looking for someone with: Bachelor's degree or equivalent ; 6+ years related experience. Series 6 registration is required within 5 months of employment. Requires strong knowledge and of all aspects of pension, including plan design, products and services, investments, market trends, industry standards, competitive environment, laws, regulations, and pending legislation. Knowledge of business unit and company products required. Successful candidate will have the following: Some sales experience preferred. Requires a high level of creativity and resourcefulness. Must have sophisticated analytical, problem solving, negotiation, verbal and written communication and math skills. Must have strong relationship building, leadership and presentation skills. Must be able to manage multiple products. The ability to garner respect and credibility through intelligence, integrity, influencing, maturity, and presence is required. Occasional overnight travel may be required (2 - 3 times per year). Salary Range Information Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly) $55800 - $100800 / year Salary Details The following locations are examples of market-specific salary ranges across different geographies. Wichita, KS: $55,800 - $75,600 / year Des Moines, IA: $58,900 - $79,800/ year Charlotte, NC: $62,000 - $84,000/ year Chicago/Minneapolis: $68,200 - $92,400 / year Los Angeles/New York City: $74,400 - $100,800 / year Pension Eligible Yes Location Strong preference for candidates in Des Moines, IA.
