Description

At Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work — and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.

Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking to hire a Logistics Engineer - Level 3 or 4 to join our Specialty Engineering team supporting the team in Boulder, CO. This is a dynamic, people-focused environment where the selected candidate will collaborate with engineers, users, and customers to provide forward-thinking logistics engineering solutions. Our multidisciplinary team focuses on innovative, integrated, and data-driven solutions to complex challenges.

This position requires interaction with a variety of internal team members, external government customers, and civil partners. As a senior team member, the successful candidate will contribute expertise at both technical execution and strategic planning levels.

Primary Responsibilities

Development and Management of Logistics Support Analysis (LSA):

  • Design, develop, and own the end‑to‑end Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) process - create and manage the LSA framework from the ground up, define data collection methods, establish analysis models, and generate actionable support‑ability recommendations that drive cost‑effective product life‑cycle support
  • Define, capture and maintain requirements for maintenance tasks, tools, personnel, and equipment needs.
  • Develop and manage LSA databases and records to support product supportability initiatives.

Level of Repair Analysis (LORA):

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Level‑of‑Repair Analysis (LORA) framework from program inception through sustainment, establishing the methodology, data‑collection processes, and decision‑support models that pinpoint the most cost‑effective repair‑versus‑replace strategies for each subsystem and component throughout the product life‑cycle.
  • Provide detailed recommendations on optimizing maintenance designs and choices to reduce life cycle costs and improve system availability.

Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA):

  • Conduct Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) assessments and produce FMECA reports identifying failure modes and criticalities.
  • Partner with engineering teams to mitigate risks and implement preventive strategies for enhancing reliability.

Spares Analysis and Optimization:

  • Develop and maintain sparing models to establish optimal inventory levels that balance availability and cost considerations.
  • Partner with stakeholders to oversee the timely delivery, allocation, and management of spare parts.

Technical Data Development:

  • Define, author, and maintain logistic documentation, including Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA), Repair and Overhaul instructions, Illustrated Parts Breakdown (IPB), and other key deliverables.
  • Oversee the effective development and implementation of technical manuals, provisioning data, and training materials for logistics support.

Integrated Logistics Support (ILS):

  • Create, maintain, and continually refine the Product Support Strategy (PSS), establishing the overarching approach for sustainment, spare‑parts provisioning, maintenance concepts, and support‑ability trade studies throughout the program’s life‑cycle.
  • Produce and update the User Logistics Support Summary (ULSS), delivering a concise, user‑focused view of required logistics support and ensuring the end‑user has clear guidance on operational logistics.
  • Develop and implement an Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Plan, ensuring lifecycle product support aligns with engineering and program objectives.
  • Support provisioning strategies, sustainment plans, and proactive approaches for obsolescence management.

Configuration and Data Management:

  • Support configuration management by ensuring alignment between maintenance requirements and engineering design changes.
  • Monitor logistics data inputs to ensure consistency with evolving technical and operational needs.

Standards and Compliance:

  • Adhere to relevant industry standards, including MIL-STD-1388, GEIA-STD-0007, S3000L, or equivalent as required during logistics product development and analysis efforts.
  • Familiarity with DoD Integrated Product Support (IPS) Elements and Product Support Analysis (PSA) processes.
  • Direct experience implementing MIL-HDBK-502B, MIL-PRF-49506, and commercial counterparts like SAE GEIA-STD-0007 / TA-STD-0017.
  • Understanding of space systems logistics frameworks, including weapon system sustainment, ground station infrastructure lifecycle planning, and asset tracking under MIL-STD-2073-1E and MIL-STD-31000B.

Vendor Coordination:

  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure compliance with contractual expectations regarding logistics deliverables, provisioning data, technical documentation, and repair requirements.

Program Contribution:

  • Participate and contribute to program-level proposals, supportability assessments, business capture efforts, and long-term sustainability of delivered solutions.
  • Partner with engineering, supply chain, and program management teams to ensure alignment between logistics strategies and customer objectives.
