Overview

***This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP***

The Pharmacist provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care and medication management services in support of medical operations under the LOGCAP / V2X program. The incumbent ensures the safe, effective, and compliant dispensing of medications, supports clinical decision-making, and contributes to mission readiness within a Military Treatment Facility (MTF) or equivalent healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

*** This is a short term 6 month assignment***

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

  • Prepare, dispense, and verify medications in accordance with professional standards, federal regulations, and MTF policies.
  • Provide independent clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management and drug utilization review.
  • Review medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, interactions, contraindications, and dosage.
  • Provide drug information and clinical consultation to physicians, nurses, and allied healthcare personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with controlled substance handling, storage, inventory, and documentation requirements.
  • Maintain accurate pharmaceutical records and documentation in accordance with contract and regulatory requirements.
  • Support infection control, patient safety, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Participate in inspections, audits, and quality improvement activities as required.
  • Support continuity of pharmaceutical services in deployed, remote, or austere environments.
  • Some on-call may apply.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
  • Education:
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BS Pharm) from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure/Registration:
  • Current, valid, unrestricted license and registration to practice as a pharmacist in one of the following jurisdictions:
  • One of the 50 United States
  • District of Columbia
  • Commonwealth of Puerto Rico
  • Guam
  • U.S. Virgin Islands
  • License must allow for the independent practice of clinical pharmacy services and remain current (not revoked, suspended, restricted, or lapsed) throughout employment.
  • Certification:
  • No additional certification required beyond licensure and current state registration in good standing.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a licensed, practicing pharmacist.
  • Life Support Training:
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) and/or American Red Cross.
  • Certification must be maintained in a current status for the duration of the contract.
  • Documentation Requirements:
  • Contractor personnel shall provide the following prior to credentialing and deployment:
  • Certified copies of successful completion of all required pharmacist training.
  • Applicable academic diplomas.
  • Current curriculum vitae (CV).
  • Letters of recommendation from current and previous employers and/or training program supervisors.
  • Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of pharmacology, medication safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail.
  • Ability to practice independently in a clinical pharmacy role.
  • Effective communication skills with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Ability to function in deployed, remote, or resource-limited environments.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy management and electronic medical record systems.
  • Working Conditions :
  • None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work.)
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
