How you'll make an impact Primary focus of role to oversee and manager team of professional of which provides guidance and assistance to account teams and clients by using financial decision making tools, conducting client facing meetings when appropriate, to speak effectively on behalf of the underwriting team regarding core services, and acting as a mentor/coach to management positions. Key responsibilities include; involvement with strategic planning meetings for budgets and financial implications for clients, along with consulting and account management team, identifying need for project work based on dominant priorities of the division and region, and ability to articulate the need for projects to management, and acting as ambassador for organization by participating in and promoting carrier functions and activities, which will result in building and maintaining positive relationship with outside vendors. Participates in and contributes to divisional and corporate workgroups, providing insight and guidance on all fundamental underwriting services as well as tools and best practices. Conducts regularly scheduled underwriting team meetings and regional staff calls. Develops and distributes appropriate communication to internal staff, clients, corporate teams, and industry peers. Assists in the sales process through production of financial projections on large accounts and related underwriting analysis. Oversees coordination of and help conduct underwriting team training programs for staff / clients. Serves as a resource to branch office staff in order to contribute toward measurable ROI of services and retention of clients. Mentor, assist, educate and support the development of staff. Delegates to staff so that time is utilized most efficiently. About You Required: Bachelor's degree and 9 years experience with Broker or Carrier side with focus on Health and Benefits. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office. High degree of understanding of employee benefits funding mechanisms. Must be familiar with carrier reporting systems. Preferred: Effective negotiation skills. Advanced knowledge of underwriting principles and of the employee benefits field. Behaviors: Must have strong interpersonal skills; excellent communication skills (both orally and in writing) and ability to build meaningful professional relationships in order to be successful with required client facing activity. Must demonstrate ability to effectively manage and mentor individuals as well as a team.
