Henkels & McCoy is seeking a highly skilled Estimator to support the development of accurate, competitive, and timely cost estimates for complex utility and infrastructure construction projects. This role plays a key part in bid execution and preconstruction strategy, partnering closely with operations, project management, and business development to position the company for successful project awards and execution. The Senior Estimator also serves as a technical resource and mentor to junior estimators, while driving consistency and best practices across estimating efforts. Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for utility infrastructure projects including electric transmission & distribution, gas, telecom, and underground construction Perform and/or review quantity takeoffs, labor, equipment, and material pricing, and subcontractor/vendor quotes Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure accurate scope capture Evaluate project risks and incorporate contingencies into estimates Collaborate with operations and project management teams to align estimates with execution strategies Participate in bid reviews, strategy discussions, and go/no-go decision processes Analyze historical cost data and market trends to support competitive pricing Support value engineering and cost optimization strategies Ensure timely and accurate completion of bids in a deadline-driven environment Assist in project handoff meetings and provide estimating support through the preconstruction phase Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimators as needed Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of construction estimating experience, preferably in utility or heavy civil infrastructure Strong understanding of construction means & methods, productivity rates, and cost structures Proficiency with estimating software, takeoff tools, and spreadsheets Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents Preferred: Experience with electric, gas, telecom, or underground utility projects Experience working on large-scale, multi-million-dollar construction projects Familiarity with union labor environments Professional certifications such as CCM, PE, or equivalent Pay: 100K-160K Henkels & McCoy, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities, Females, Protected Veterans, and Individuals with Disabilities.
