KTVB the TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate in Boise, ID, is seeking an innovative Senior Producer to produce specials for KTVB streaming & broadcast, breaking news coverage, and special projects. At KTVB, we build creative shows that engage, educate and inform our audiences. We prioritize original storytelling and investigative journalism as key components of our newscasts to set our product apart in the Boise market. The person in this position will research and produce content and other special projects including longform and investigative coverage as assigned. They’ll need to be a self-starter who can juggle multiple projects as they develop and provide high quality content for targeted specialized reports. Their main goal will be to develop and execute compelling content for on-air and digital platforms.
The senior producer, serves as the newsroom lead in the absence of management, providing direction and ensuring continuity of operations.
Responsibilities:
- Helps establish editorial priorities and content strategy for major coverage, special projects, and streaming initiatives.
- Provides day-to-day leadership and coaching to producers, and digital producers. Serves as a resource and mentor for developing newsroom talent.
- Set and participate in planning meetings for big story coverage
- Participate in daily editorial meetings. Identify and pitch deep dive/side bar angles on big daily news stories, developing news, and long-term enterprise stories
- Develop and maintain sources that can provide exclusive content, update contacts in ENPS
- Review/edit producer/reporter scripts to ensure accuracy as needed
- Ensure digital is a priority from first stages of production for all projects
- Partner with creative and editorial teams to develop and request compelling graphics that elevate investigative and major story coverage
- Lead field production efforts for special projects and enterprise stories, ensuring high-quality storytelling on location
- Produce dynamic content across platforms, delivering engaging broadcasts and streaming shows that connect with audiences
- Use your natural curiosity to pitch compelling stories

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in journalism, communications, or related or equivalent years of experience.
- 3-5 years of news content experience.
- Top-notch communication skills are an absolute must.
- Solid journalistic judgement and a news philosophy that emphasizes accurate, fair, and unique local content, along with community engagement.
- Understanding of the tenets of professional journalism.
- Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content.
- Strong social media skills, including an active newshound presence on your preferred social platforms.
- Organizational skills and the ability to work under time-pressure deadlines.
- Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
- ENPS and Edius system experience preferred.
