Coastal Virginia Surgery Center is an ambulatory surgery center located in Newport News, VA. With two operating rooms and two procedure rooms, the center provides high-quality, cost-effective outpatient surgical and procedural care primarily for Orthopedics, Spine, Podiatry and Pain Management.
Owned and operated in partnership with BSMH and Compass Surgical Partners (an ASC Management organization), the center combines advanced technology with compassionate, patient-centered care in a convenient setting.
Role Summary
The Operating Room Registered Nurse (Circulating Nurse) plays a critical role in managing patient care throughout the intraoperative experience. Working outside the sterile field, the RN circulator ensures a safe, efficient, and supportive surgical environment while serving as the patient’s advocate and coordinating the efforts of the surgical team.
Hours: Full-time; Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–4:00 PM (hours may vary based on center needs).
What You’ll do
- Assess patient needs preoperatively and intraoperatively
- Develop and implement individualized care plans
- Coordinate and communicate with the surgical team to maintain a safe, efficient OR environment
- Monitor patient positioning, safety, and equipment use
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting
- Support quality improvement and compliance initiatives
- Uphold patient confidentiality and safety protocols
- Collaborate across departments to optimize outcomes
What You’ll bring
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Current RN license (Unrestricted)
- Minimum 1 year OR experience within the past 3–5 years
- BLS certification required; ACLS within 6 months of hire
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and team skills
