Job description

The Melbourne School of Public Health is calling for Expressions of Interest for a full-time, continuing Operations Manager position.

Faculty: Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences
Department: Melbourne School of Public Health (New School name from October 2026)
Salary: UOM 9 - $146,049- $151,951 p.a. (pro rata for part-time) plus 17% super

Your next career opportunity
In this senior operations role, you will shape School-wide services across teaching, research and engagement. You will lead a team of Business Managers and drive consistent, efficient and scalable support for academics and students.

What you will deliver:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of Business Managers delivering professional services across all Departments.
  • Design, implement and refine School-wide operational frameworks, processes and service models that enhance consistency and efficiency.
  • Coordinate business support, resource planning, risk and compliance activities to align services and enable strategic priorities.
  • Partner with Department Managers and senior stakeholders to solve cross-cutting operational challenges and improve service delivery.
  • Oversee complex projects and change initiatives that strengthen School operations and support sustainable growth.

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Hold a postgraduate qualification or bring equivalent senior operational experience in a large, complex organisation.
  • Demonstrate success coordinating services and stakeholders across multiple teams to deliver consistent, high-quality operational outcomes.
  • Offer proven expertise improving processes, systems and service delivery models within research-intensive or similarly complex environments.
  • Bring experience leading professional staff supporting teaching and research, including workforce planning and capability development.
  • Provide strong financial, human and physical resource management skills, particularly for research grants, contracts and operating budgets.
  • Excel at leading change and complex projects, exercising sound judgement to implement new ways of working.
