About The Position
The Manager of Wellness is responsible for leading wellness initiatives and programs across Art and Wellness Enterprises (AWE) and the diverse, complex portfolio of supported organizations spanning healthcare, arts, education, and philanthropy. Building relationships with various levels of entity leaders, providing strategic partnership, and serving as a trusted wellness resource are key roles this position plays.
This role is essential in promoting a culture of well-being, improving overall employee health, and enhancing organizational performance. The Manager of Wellness works closely with leadership, People Services, and other key stakeholders to create a comprehensive and sustainable wellness strategy that aligns with the mission and values of our organizations.
Success in this role requires a strategic mindset, strong relationship-building skills, and a passion for promoting employee well-being, along with the ability to develop impactful wellness initiatives, leverage data to drive decisions, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Wellness Strategy and Program Development
- Develop and execute a strategic wellness plan that aligns with organizational goals and values, driving a culture of well-being across multiple entities and employee populations.
- Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of wellness programs and initiatives that address the physical, mental, and emotional needs of employees, including scalable offerings for employees across all levels.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to embed wellness into the organizational culture, operations, and employee experience strategies.
- Serve as a wellness subject matter expert and advocate, leveraging data insights and employee feedback to continuously evolve program strategy and support organizational well-being goals.
Program Delivery and Engagement
- Develop and implement comprehensive communication and engagement strategies, including multi-channel campaigns and incentive-based programs, to effectively promote and increase participation in wellness, benefits, and mental health resources.
- Oversee the administration of wellness programming, including fitness classes, wellness challenges, health screenings, and mental health resources, ensuring seamless delivery and accessibility.
- Cultivate a health-conscious organizational environment by developing and managing large-scale wellness events, workshops, and activations (e.g., campus-wide fairs, challenges, and creative initiatives), while providing the necessary support and resources to empower employees in making informed lifestyle choices.
- Collaborate with People Services and other departments to ensure wellness programs are inclusive, equitable, and accessible across all entities and roles.
Operations and Partnerships
- Analyze program effectiveness using participation data, engagement metrics, employee feedback, and other data-driven insights to identify trends, inform decision-making, and enhance program outcomes.
- Lead wellness systems and process automation initiatives and provide strategic recommendations to improve efficiency.
- Develop and present clear, executive-level reports and visualizations to inform leadership decisions.
- Build and refine wellness program processes. Develop playbooks with standardized approaches for use throughout the ecosystem to drive efficiency and ensure consistent positive experiences for team members and guests.
- Build and maintain relationships with external vendors, healthcare providers, and community partners.
- Develop and manage the wellness program budget, including vendor spend, event planning, and incentive structures, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), workflows, and reporting frameworks to ensure program consistency, scalability, and long-term sustainability.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support evolving organizational needs.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in health promotion, public health, wellness, human resources, business administration, or a related field required.
- 5–7+ years of progressive experience in wellness program management, employee well-being, health promotion, benefits-related wellness initiatives, or a related field across complex organizations.
- Demonstrated success developing, implementing, and evaluating wellness programs and initiatives across diverse employee populations. Experience in healthcare, higher education, museum/cultural institutions, philanthropy, nonprofit organizations, or similarly complex environments is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of wellness concepts, employee well-being strategies, health promotion principles, and industry best practices.
- Strategic thinking skills with demonstrated ability to develop and implement comprehensive wellness programs that support organizational goals and enhance employee experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint skills for reporting, data analysis, and presentations.
- Familiarity with HRIS, wellness platforms, and other technology solutions used to administer, monitor, and evaluate wellness programs; prior experience with Workday HCM is preferred.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to leverage participation data, engagement metrics, employee feedback, and other program outcomes to inform decisions and improve effectiveness.
- Excellent leadership, communication (verbal, written, presentation), and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to engage and collaborate with team members, senior leaders, managers, vendors, healthcare providers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate complex initiatives, and maintain strong organizational oversight in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience developing and managing budgets, vendor relationships, contracts, and program resources.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify challenges, evaluate options, and implement practical solutions.
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential and organizational information.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, remaining adaptable and resilient.

Work Environment: Work is performed on-site (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) in a professional, climate-controlled office environment with standard office equipment, including computers, printers, and telephones. This role requires working in an open setting near colleagues. The noise level is typically low to moderate. The role also requires regular interaction with both the public and internal team members in a professional and courteous manner. Some travel will be required, including overnight trips on occasion. A flexible schedule may be necessary to accommodate business needs, including occasional evening and weekend work hours.
