The role holder will ensure the bank maintains full compliance with all applicable regulatory reporting frameworks, including but not limited to COREP, FINREP, Statistical Reporting, and Liquidity Reporting. This is a senior leadership role requiring strategic oversight, subject-matter expertise, and the ability to navigate a complex and evolving regulatory landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Reporting Delivery
- Lead the timely and accurate preparation, review, and submission of all regulatory returns to the PRA, FCA, Bank of England, and European Banking Authority (where applicable).
- Oversee the production of COREP (own funds, large exposures, leverage ratio), FINREP, liquidity returns (LCR, NSFR, PRA110), statistical reporting, and ad hoc regulatory data requests.
- Maintain a comprehensive regulatory reporting calendar and ensure all deadlines are met without exception.
- Implement and maintain robust controls, reconciliation processes, and attestation procedures over all regulatory submissions.
Regulatory Change and Compliance
- Monitor and interpret new and evolving regulatory requirements, including Basel 3.1 / Basel implementation, PRA rulebook changes, and FCA reporting obligations.
- Conduct impact assessments of regulatory change on reporting processes, systems, and data requirements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory reporting queries from the PRA, FCA, and internal and external auditors.
- Ensure alignment between regulatory reporting outputs and the bank’s Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) and Internal Liquidity Adequacy Assessment Process (ILAAP).
Data, Systems, and Process Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement in data quality, automation, and efficiency across the regulatory reporting function.
- Own the relationship with technology and data teams to enhance regulatory reporting infrastructure, including XBRL taxonomy management and data lineage.
- Lead or support system implementation and upgrade projects related to regulatory reporting platforms (SUADE).
- Champion data governance standards and ensure regulatory data is complete, accurate, and reconciled to source systems and the general ledger.
Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead, develop, and mentor a team of regulatory reporting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous learning.
- Provide regular reporting and insight to the CFO, Finance Leadership Team, Board Risk Committee, and Audit Committee as required.
- Collaborate with Risk, Treasury, Financial Control, and other functions to ensure consistency and integrity of reported data.
- Represent the bank at industry forums, working groups, and consultations on regulatory reporting matters.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in regulatory reporting within a UK-authorised bank, building society, or major financial institution.
- Deep technical knowledge of PRA and FCA regulatory reporting frameworks, including COREP, FINREP, liquidity returns, statistical reporting, and capital adequacy.
- Proven leadership experience, with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding of Basel prudential requirements and their application to UK banking.
- Excellent knowledge of XBRL reporting standards and taxonomy.
- Experience engaging directly with the PRA, FCA, or Bank of England on regulatory matters.
- Professional qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent (or qualified by experience at a senior level).
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience with regulatory reporting technology platforms.
- Familiarity with financial and management reporting.
- Experience of regulatory reporting transformation or remediation programmes.
- Knowledge of the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR) and its implications for the role.
- Previous experience operating in a bank subject to enhanced supervisory engagement or s166 reviews.
Key Attributes
- Strategic Thinking – Ability to anticipate regulatory developments and position the function accordingly.
- Attention to Detail – Commitment to accuracy and rigour in all regulatory outputs.
- Leadership – Inspires and empowers teams to deliver under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Influencing and Stakeholder Management – Builds strong relationships across all levels of the organisation and with external regulators.

- Adaptability – Flexibility to adjust strategies and plans in response to a dynamic and evolving regulatory environment.
- Continuous Learning – Commitment to staying current with regulatory developments, accounting changes, and industry best practices.
This is a London-based role with hybrid working arrangements. The role may require extended hours during peak reporting periods (e.g., quarter-end and year-end). Some travel may be required for regulatory meetings, industry events, or visits to other offices.
