Job description

Whatever is built in this world should be something we can trust, now and always. For us, each dream of a new home, every customer’s success and every solution the size of a city begins with people. A job well done is all about smart, shared choices that are brought to life with our finest work and expertise. This is how we do more than just build well. We build lasting value and joy of achievement. Tomorrow well built is made together.

We are looking for an experienced transaction lawyer to join YIT Group Legal and cover legal matters relating to our Joint Venture transactions and operations and cross-border real estate transactions across the Baltic countries, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland. The role sits within Group Legal, with a dotted line reporting to the CEE Investment Team — in practice, you will work side by side with our investment professionals from CEE Investment team and local YIT teams on deals as they progress, collaborating closely with the Group functions to make sure transactions are structured consistently with Group requirements.

The role calls for genuine involvement in transactions across all stages. A commercial outlook is important — an ability to understand the business context, engage constructively with deal teams and Group functions, and focus on practical outcomes alongside legal risk.

The role is based in Poland, Slovakia or Czech Republic. You should expect to travel within the region regularly, as well as to YIT’s headquarters in Helsinki, Finland — roughly 10–20% of your time, which in practice means a few trips a month, We are open to discussing different employment models. If you are the right person for the role, we will find a setup that works.

What you’ll do

  • Handle legal work on joint ventures and cross-border real estate transactions across the CEE region — from initial structuring through due diligence, negotiation, and closing
  • Work directly with the CEE Investment Team and local YIT team throughout each deal
  • Ensure high quality of joint venture agreements, shareholders' agreements, construction contracts, land purchase agreements, and other real estate contracts as well as timely closing of transactions in cooperation with selected professional external transaction lawyers and our local in-house lawyers
  • Ensure alignment with group-level requirements and policies
  • Advise business stakeholders on structuring options, risk, and contractual matters in clear, practical terms
  • Instruct and manage local external counsel responsible for drafting and negotiating of transaction documentation across the CEE region, keeping quality and costs in check
  • Collaborate with business colleagues, finance, tax, and other functions both on Group and country levels to keep legal workstreams moving in step with commercial timelines
  • Contribute to building out templates and legal processes for the CEE region

What helps you succeed in this role

  • 4–5+ years of experience in transactional legal work (M&A, real estate, joint ventures or similar)
  • Strong hands-on experience in joint ventures, project financing, real estate transactions, and/or M&A
  • Experience working in an international or multi-jurisdictional environment is an advantage
  • Law degree (or equivalent) from Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic or another European jurisdiction
  • Strong working proficiency in English; Polish, Slovak or Czech is an advantage
  • Approach legal work from a commercial angle — your instinct is to find a way forward, not to identify obstacles
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills and you are comfortable holding your ground in complex discussions
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously while maintaining quality and priorities
  • Comfort working in complex environments with multiple parties, competing interests, and layered structures are part of the job
  • You build good working relationships naturally, across different teams, and seniority levels

How you make an impact at YIT

  • You understand customer needs and connect your daily work, decisions and solutions to creating customer value.
  • You take ownership of your work and deliver high-quality results.
  • You proactively improve your areas of responsibility and ways of working. You learn from experience, share your expertise openly, and apply what you learn to improve both your own and the team’s performance.
  • You work openly with others and help create an environment where people feel valued, helping build trust, collaboration and psychological safety so that people can succeed together.
