Job description
Within the Emerging Leader program, you will have an opportunity to learn and be mentored by multiple leaders across our business, including operations, sales, finance, human resources, procurement and everything in between. By the completion of this program, you will be able to become an emerging talent within our Operations, Finance or Commercial teams.
What you’re responsible for:
Phase 1 - Operations:
- Developing an understanding of our products and materials
- Understanding the process and flows of our yards and operations (including time with our Ferrous and Shredder Departments).
- Learning the ins and outs of overseeing a feeder yard site
- Developing an understanding of our health and safety culture
Phase 2 - Logistics:
- Understanding how our material gets transported from our customers to our sites
- Learning how we dispatch and scale our material
- Identifying the equipment needed to set up an account
Phase 3 - Finance:
- Reviewing our contracts and how they are processed
- Analyzing inventory and learning about our month end inventory process
- Understanding how we process and pay our customers
Phase 4 - Procurement:
- Learning how we establish supplier strategies and vendor management
- Collaborating with different departments to identify purchasing needs and strategies
- Participating in inventory management with our storekeepers
Phase 5 - Human Resources:
- Participating in onboarding and integration of new employees
- Collaborating with the Talent Acquisition team to identify and attract the right talent
- Partnering with the HR team to understand critical aspects of the HR function; succession planning, management training, compensation, dealing with difficult situations
Phase 6 - Sales & Commercial Development:
- Visiting customer sites, interacting and building critical customer relationships
- Gaining hands-on exposure to pricing strategies, market trends and negotiation techniques
- Understanding how margins work, what drives profitability and how purchasing decisions affect results
- Collaborating with the sales team to understand the process and importance of account managing
To join our team:
- You must be a recent graduate from a relevant University or College program
- You have strong written and oral communication skills
- You are bilingual in English and French
- You have a valid driver's license
- You have the ability to travel as needed
- You have excellent customer service and organizational skills
- You are able to work effectively both independently and within a team
