Join one of America’s fastest‑growing large cities as a Graduate Engineer in the City of Fort Worth’s Water Utility – Strategic Operations Section. In this impactful role, you’ll support the planning, analysis, and technical decision‑making that keep water reliably flowing to a rapidly growing community. You will work with industry‑leading modeling tools, contribute to long‑range infrastructure planning, and help guide development that shapes the future of Fort Worth’s water systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or other engineering discipline from an accredited college or university with no experience required
- Valid Texas Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous work or internship experience with a municipality, water / sewer engineering consultant or development industry
- Engineer-in-Training certification
The Graduate Engineer job responsibilities include:
- Engage proactively with community members, project partners, and internal teams to support clear communication and project coordination
- Perform analysis using Innovyze water and wastewater modeling programs to support planning and operational decisions
- Assist in the evaluation of water and sewer engineering studies submitted for potential development projects within the City of Fort Worth
- Perform fire flow analysis using Innovyze water modeling program
- Analyze water system performance using SCADA, billing systems, and operational datasets
- Update hydraulic models using available GIS, SCADA and other data
- Research and interprets as-built plans to address infrastructure-related inquiries
- Support contract development for wholesale customers and developers
- Prepare population growth estimates and spatial allocation to support planning
- Prepare maps and visual graphics to support meetings, presentations, and technical discussions

Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking and repetitive motions.
Light Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
