Job description

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As an Additive Manufacturing Technician I, you'll step into a hands-on role at the center of one of manufacturing's most exciting frontiers: metal additive manufacturing. No prior experience in additive manufacturing is required. What matters most is your curiosity, your commitment to doing things right, and your desire to grow.

This is an entry-level opportunity designed for people who are ready to roll up their sleeves, learn from the ground up, and build a foundation for a meaningful career in advanced manufacturing.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Demonstrates willingness to learn additive manufacturing processes, machine platforms, materials, post-processing methods, and quality requirements; actively participates in all required training to build foundational job skills.
  • Asks questions to understand the rationale behind work instructions, process control requirements, safety protocols, and quality procedures before executing tasks independently; seeks supervisor guidance when any step is unclear.
  • Supports machine setup and operation for metal and polymer additive manufacturing systems under direct supervision — including loading build plates, filling powder or material reservoirs, initiating approved builds, and monitoring machine status as directed.
  • Performs basic post-processing tasks for additively manufactured parts under supervision — including support removal, media blasting using blast cabinets, basic cleaning, and part handling — following approved procedures precisely.
  • Monitors and records basic process control information as directed — including machine parameters, environmental conditions, and build status — logging data accurately in ERP/MES systems in accordance with work orders and process control instructions.
  • Accurately records time tracking data by job, operation, and activity in ERP/MES systems in accordance with company requirements; verifies own entries for accuracy and completeness before submitting.
  • Follows all work orders, specifications, and process control instructions exactly as documented; escalates immediately when instructions are unclear or conditions differ from what is expected.
  • Assists with general machine maintenance and cleaning tasks as directed — including machine exterior cleaning, cabinet and workspace organization, and consumables replenishment — following approved maintenance procedures.
  • Assists with supply organization and inventory control activities as directed, including receiving, labeling, and storing materials and consumables in designated locations.
  • Maintains high housekeeping standards and a clean, organized, and safe workspace at all times; promotes a safety-first culture in all daily activities.
  • Reviews own work for accuracy and completeness before advancing to the next step; ensures all quality documentation and traveler requirements are met consistently.
  • Follows all Quality Management System documentation requirements — including Quality Manual requirements, quality procedures, and associated work instructions — every time without exception; reports non-conformances, safety concerns, and documentation errors immediately with factual information.
  • Contributes to team goals by completing individual assignments reliably and supporting coworkers when asked; participates in continuous improvement initiatives as directed.
  • Supports other projects & duties as assigned.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • High School Diploma required; no prior additive manufacturing experience necessary
  • Any exposure to manufacturing, 3D printing, technical training, or hands-on mechanical work is a welcome plus
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal work instructions accurately and consistently
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and genuine curiosity about manufacturing technology
  • Sharp attention to detail and a habit of double-checking your own work
  • Positive attitude, punctuality, and a real commitment to safety and your teammates
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, quality-driven production environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regular standing, moving, bending, and reaching throughout the work area
  • Lifting of build plates, material containers, and processed parts — occasionally up to 40 lbs; team lifts for heavier loads
  • Strict PPE requirements in metal powder handling areas (gloves, respirator, protective eyewear) and hearing protection in blast cabinet areas — your safety is non-negotiable
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity for operating equipment, reading work instructions, and monitoring machine status
  • Full-time (40 hrs) . Overtime may be available and is occasionally required. Some early morning, evening, or weekend hours may be needed. No travel required.
