Overview
The Intern Manager Trainee position provides students with hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of an 84 Lumber location. As an introduction to our Manager Trainee (MT) program—the foundation of our leadership development pipeline—this role offers valuable exposure to our business during the summer.
Success in this position requires two key skill sets: strong customer service abilities, both in person and over the phone, and a willingness to work outdoors performing physical labor, including lifting and material handling. If you have a strong work ethic, enjoy hands-on work, and are interested in learning the business side of operations, this could be an excellent opportunity.
$16hr, 15-30 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Store/Yard Maintenance
- Load and unload lumber and building supplies
- Provide service to customers
- Build loads for delivery
- Create material lists
- Keep lumber yard clean and organized
Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment This position involves working indoors and sometime outdoors. Cashiers frequently work near moving mechanical parts and sometimes in high precarious places. There is exposure to vibrations, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and weather conditions, including rain, humidity, extreme heat, and extreme cold.
Physical Demands This position involves frequent standing, walking, use of hands, reaching, talking, listening, stooping, kneeling, crouching, feeling, climbing, balancing, crawling and lift to 80 pounds. This position will rarely sit.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a part-time position. Hours of work depends on hours of operations, willing to work 20 hours per week. May require working irregular and/or extended hours.
Travel Limited travel is expected for this position.
