Job Title: Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Coordinator
Location: Houma, LA
Position Overview: The HSE Coordinator is responsible for managing the Company’s HSE program and monitors the facility and processes of all HSE regulations and the elimination of industrial accidents. Coordinates with workforce throughout facility to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Develops solutions and action plans to address facility HSE issues. Also, performs various activities to promote facility maintenance of safe and healthy work conditions through supervisors and employees.
Key Responsibilities: corrective actions
- Monitors facility and processes for compliance with Company HSE program and regulations.
- Evaluates and presents recommendations for improvement in HSE program.
- Manages HSE staff.
- Investigates incidents to determine causal factors and suggest/implement/maintain corrective actions as determined by coordinating with the facility management.
- Coordinates HSE program training of workforce as well as visitors, vendors and customers as needed.
- Conducts periodic HSE inspections of the facility and equipment to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Identifies potential hazards and recommends corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Assists with Industrial Hygiene program requirements.
- Prepares and ensures timely submission of HSE records and reports.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining facility HSE programs and plans.
- Point of contact for HSE initiatives.
- Researches CFR’s (Code of Federal Regulations) and Company program to assist with issues in the field.
- Responsible for HSE trend analysis and development of special needs training specific to the facility.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the HSE field required.
- Working knowledge of regulations and operations of local and federal agencies (i.e. LDEQ, EPA, USCG, OSHA etc.)
Skills and Abilities
- Strong Program Management Skills.
- Working knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations within a maritime industry. Basic knowledge of Environmental Management System preferred.
- Must be highly motivated.
- Must have a proven track record in managing facility safety issues and experience in coordinating safety inspections, trainings, and meetings.
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and implement initiatives to assist in achieving facility HSE goals.
- Must possess basic computer skills with MS applications (i.e. MS Word/MS Excel).
- Must have strong communication and people skills.
