Job description

Overview This role is responsible for assisting the TCL Ops Lead with business volume expansion related to plantlet production and its optimal quality results, ensured via rigorous testing. This role will also act as EHS Area owner for the site, responsible for implementing applicable GEHSMS standards on the site. The role is responsible for ensuring coordination and seamless communication with the TCL Manager and for the implementation of best practices in the Tissue Culture Lab. Responsibilities This job holder will be responsible for assisting the Tissue Culture Ops Lead on daily, weekly, and monthly crop analysis reports. Assessment of lab equipment for proper operation, and ensure timely calibration of the onsite equipment Ensure proper maintenance and handling of potato germplasm in aseptic conditions Arrange for long-term preservation of all the potato clones Perform Sterilization, inoculation, subculturing, multiplication, rooting, and hardening of potato clones Monitor culture growth, record observations, identify abnormalities, maintain contamination-free cultures, and troubleshoot contamination sources. Ensure the genetic purity of varieties through periodic DNA fingerprinting and virus tests of all the clones Plan and execute microbial testing of all the material throughout the year through ELISA and RT-PCR, and ensure plants are contamination-free Ensure the consistent implementation of SOP and maintenance of sterile conditions in the laboratory. Ensure culture media preparation according to approved formulations and production schedules. Record batch preparation data and maintain accurate documentation. Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize media preparation efficiency and resource utilization. Coordinate transplantation of Tissue culture plantlets from laboratory to nursery conditions. Manage hardening and acclimatization activities to maximize plant survival rates. Monitor plant growth, irrigation, nutrition, and environmental conditions. Conduct routine health inspections and implement corrective actions when required. Maintain nursery records including transplant success, mortality, and inventory tracking. Ensure the timely availability of healthy plants for greenhouse and field production activities. Support optimization of transplantation protocols to improve plant establishment and overall productivity.
