Regional Head of Underwriting, APAC

We are looking for a Regional Head of Underwriting, APAC, based in Singapore.

The Impact You Will Have

Reporting to the President, Commercial, APAC, the Regional Head of Underwriting will provide strategic leadership in developing and executing the regional underwriting strategy. This role ensures alignment with global Allianz Commercial strategies and is responsible for managing the regional portfolio to achieve Allianz Commercial targets. The position demands strategic oversight of underwriting practices, product development, and compliance within the regulatory framework, ensuring a disciplined and profitable underwriting process. The role also entails leading the regional underwriting staff and fostering strong relationships with brokers and clients.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Execution

•

Develop regional underwriting strategy aligned with global AZC goals.

•

Identify market opportunities to grow business.

•

Lead cross- LoB strategies with regional leaders to foster innovation.

Performance Steering

•

Manage the portfolio to meet financial and loss ratio targets across the region .

•

Drive planning, monitor progress and optimise the portfolio across the underwriting lifecycle

Underwriting Excellence and Compliance

•

Maintain underwriting consistency and compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.

•

Drive rollout and adoption of global pricing and TEX tools across the region

Corporate Governance and Compliance

•

Ensure global governance coherence and adherence to compliance standards.

•

Promote integrity and ethical behaviour organization-wide .

Market and Relationship Management

•

Acquire and retain business through strategic client and broker relationships.

•

Enhance market presence and represent Allianz Commercial internally and externally.

Underwriting Leadership

•

Lead the regional underwriting teams in new business and renewal strategies .

•

Collaborate closely with the global LoB leads on development of local products

•

Oversee cross- LoB and country underwriting deals acting as a consistent face to the market across the region.

•

Act as first point of escalation point for underwriting referrals

What You’ll Bring to the Role

•

Excellent communication and presentation, strong negotiation and leadership, expertise in risk assessment & management, advanced pricing knowledge, contract drafting proficiency, and strong analytical abilities.

•

More than 10 years experience in underwriting management, strong broker relationships, local market presence, proven profitable growth, and experience leading teams in complex global environments.

•

Preferably a Master's Degree in Economics, Law, or a related discipline. Completion of professional insurance qualifications (e.g., CII).

•

The ability to ensure ethical AI practices and stay updated with emerging AI technologies will be key to maintaining a competitive advantage.
