The Claims Adjuster is responsible for working with FM and FM Affiliated clients to assess damages and assist in loss control measures following an insurance loss. An engineering degree is required due to the technical nature of our losses. Project management and technical assessment of critical path is often needed on losses. The Claims Adjuster works alone or with a team in assisting in determining the extent of coverage afforded under the clients’ insurance policies and negotiating claim settlements. In addition, the Claims Adjuster also hires and manages consultants such as Cause & Origin investigators, Building and Machinery Appraisers, Forensic Accountants to aid in the measurement of the losses
Formalized training, including classroom, office and field-based will be provided. Approximately 10% travel can be expected. The requirements of this position provide suitable experience to qualify for Professional Engineering status in Ontario.

Skills and competencies

Strong interpersonal skills including negotiating and consulting
•
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
•
Must be organized and possess ability to make quick and sound recommendations.
•
Organized time management skills to appropriately prioritize task completion across all claims being handled
Education
A bachelor’s degree in engineering.
A Chartered Insurance Professional Designation is considered an asset.
Experience
1+ years FM experience or equivalent in an engineering or client responsibility role.
