Responsibilities
A Registered Nurse who functions under the Administrator of Professional Practice, and in collaboration with the Nursing and Medical staff. The hospital-based WOC Specialist RN serves as a clinical resource and consultant for the acute and rehabilitative patients with selected disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems. The WOC Specialist RN provides the full scope of WOC nursing practice, including education, counseling, research, and administration.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
Current NYS RN license. BSN required; MS preferred.
Minimum Experience
Two (2) to four (4) years of recent, relevant nursing experience
Required Certification/Registration
Current or in process of testing of certification in wound care by WOCNCB (i.e., CWCN, CWON, or CWOCN). Certification required within 12 months of hire. Current BLS.
Physical Demands
Prolonged/frequent standing and walking. Ability to assist with patient lifting, moving and repositioning for physical assessment.
Working Conditions
Normal hospital environment. Potential exposure to body fluids. Contact with patients under variety of circumstances.
