OVERVIEW
This Business Controller position is responsible for the financial activities of the Retail Channel for Salomon in the US and Canada. As a key member of the Business Controlling Team, these responsibilities include:
- The implementation of GTM strategy and steering the Retail GTM teams towards achieving profitable growth targets.
- The on-going definition, development and reporting within the Retail organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Business Controlling – Planning & Control
- Manage all aspects of the GTM financial budgeting and forecasting process by working with regional commercial management and the global finance and commercial teams.
- Financial and business planning, steering & monitoring performance and optimizing operating capital.
- Prepare, analyze and report financial results – sales trends, product gross margins, average net selling price analysis, average cogs, direct operating expenses, inventory and balance sheet items
- Analyze GTM results versus budget, forecast and prior year (sales, margins, operating expenses and inventory management) and drive actions needed to meet financial targets & overall GTM objectives
- Sign off on month end processes including journal entries, OPEX control and GM analysis in SAP.
- Provide financial impact analysis of Retail KPIs/discounting structures including:
- Traffic/ AOV/ Conversion/ Returns
- End of life discounting
- Business case preparation and input on new store openings
- Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Managerial and legal reporting using OneStream management reporting
- Conduct monthly financial reviews & governance meetings with Commercial Leadership & GTM teams
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and analysis of financial data to support decision making on channels, customers, programs, etc.
- Enhance management reporting to improve communication of critical information and maintain accountability for financial performance, to individuals at all levels in the organization.
- Perform internal and external benchmark analysis on key business areas and identify opportunities to improve operations and deliver more profitable growth.
- Support Sales and Operational Planning Process
- Inventory management/working capital analysis & forecasting
- DSI/inventory turnover/sell-thru analysis
- Replenishment order review and analysis
- Primary Finance liaison with Retail Merchandising and Marketing teams

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES & COMPETENCIES
- 5+ years of related work in Financial analysis and business controlling with background in Excel, financial metrics.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/ Finance or related field from four-year college or university; MBA or other related advanced degree a plus
- SAP FICO & BI systems experience a plus
- Experience in OneStream a plus
- Modeling in AI a plus
- Strong ability to build business cases, have helicopter view but also detailed analytical skills when needed
- Business Acumen – Experience in Retail a plus.
