Overview
The LME (Limited Maintenance Electrician) Technician IV maintains all plant equipment at optimum efficiency through extensive knowledge and experience of all equipment processes. Uses advanced knowledge in Preventive and Predictive Maintenance practices to drive continuous improvement in machine reliability. Applies extensive and advanced troubleshooting skills, and experience to resolve the most difficult technical, mechanical, electrical, and programming problems that may occur. Develops and trains Maintenance Apprentices and works with operations to improve machine efficiencies.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works with Supervisor and Unit Specialist to perform the most advanced technical machine electrical and mechanical repairs. Works independently without support from leadership and others. An independent self-starter who consistently performs work independently or within a team.
- Leads project teams within Maintenance. Provides direction to other mechanics for specific machine reliability projects. Provides technical input on machine improvements for reliability. Provides mentorship for LME apprentices and other mechanics.
- Collaborates and applies innovative, creative solutions for high-risk and scope maintenance-related projects which result in exceeding goals and targets.
- Uses considerable judgment to plan and execute work assignments. Instrumental in providing input to production for new equipment and processes.
- Works with ME (Manufacturing Engineer) /ME tech, and leadership to resolve quality concerns and improve existing processes.
- Trains/mentors mechanics and LME's including apprentices on processes, inspection, and troubleshooting.
- Independently solves the most complex problems with close tolerance electro-mechanical equipment.
- Advanced knowledge of servos, open and closed-loop feedback systems. Ability to build, program and troubleshoot control systems, i.e. PLCs (Programmable Logic Computers), relay logic, pneumatic logic, etc.
- Utilizes extensive knowledge of electronic instrumentation such as scopes, meters, etc. to troubleshoot electrical control/drive systems, single and 3-phase power up to 480V, and VFDs (variable frequency drives).
- Comprehensive to advanced computer skills and demonstrated ability to read, understand and navigate within the CMMS (CribMaster) system. Deep functional and technical proficiency. Seen as an area expert.
- Follows and adheres to all ISO, OSHA, and DEQ requirements.
Qualifications:
- Generally, 10+ years of industrial maintenance experience is required. LME or other journeyman level qualification in industrial mechanical maintenance is required.
- Experience with a variety of CNC (Computer Numeric Control) equipment in a manufacturing environment required.
- Working knowledge of power transmission, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
- Knowledge of electrical control/drive systems, single and 3-phase power up to 480V, and VFDs.
- Understanding of NEC (National Electric Code) and Oregon Electric Code.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Easily gain trust and support from peers, leadership, manufacturing, and engineering.
- Interpersonal skills and communication style allow for a seamless transition into other work cells within the department.
- Must be able to fulfill the minimum qualifications of LME Maintenance Technician III.
- Must either hold HazMat certification or become certified within the first year of employment. All required licensure must be maintained and kept up to date.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis. Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively. Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift. Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
