06/30/2026Ovintiv is seeking a highly motivated and safety-focused Artificial Lift-Maintenance Technician with a proven track record of operational excellence to support our Permian Basin operations. This position plays a critical role in maximizing production, improving equipment reliability, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our artificial lift systems.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an uncompromising commitment to safety, operational excellence, and teamwork. Strong collaboration with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams is essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion and promote Ovintiv’s Safe Work Always culture and safety expectations.
- Assist with the installation, optimization, troubleshooting, and maintenance of artificial lift systems and associated equipment.
- Monitor and optimize well performance through fluid level analysis, dynamometer testing, pump-off controller management, and production surveillance.
- Analyze and manage SCADA data utilizing platforms such as CygNet, XSPOC, and related monitoring systems.
- Identify inefficient pumping performance, diagnose root causes, recommend corrective actions, and implement solutions.
- Support equipment reliability initiatives by minimizing failures through effective design, operation, and participation in failure analysis reviews.
- Assist Lease Operators and Production personnel with artificial lift troubleshooting and optimization efforts.
- Track daily production metrics and collect field data to support operational decisions.
- Utilize XSPOC, SROD, Echometer, and related technologies to monitor, analyze, and optimize artificial lift systems.
- Provide field leadership and technical expertise during pumping unit installations, repairs, balancing, and optimization activities.
- Ensure pumping units are properly balanced and operating efficiently to maximize equipment life and production performance.
- Support and oversee pumping unit set, repair, and maintenance activities while ensuring adherence to company standards and best practices.
- Demonstrate strong safety leadership in field operations, contractor management, lifting activities, and hazard identification.
Preferred Experience
- Extensive experience with pumping unit balancing, installation, repair, and optimization.
- Crane operation, lift planning, and current crane certification are highly desirable.
- Experience supervising field crews, contractors, and maintenance activities.
- Strong understanding of lifting and rigging practices, critical lift planning, and safe execution of crane operations.
- SCADA, Echometer, XSPOC, and artificial lift optimization experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of related oil and gas operations experience required.
- High School or GED equivalent level of education required.
- Strong knowledge of artificial lift systems, production operations, and field troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and safe work practices.
- Experience leading crews, coordinating field activities, and providing technical mentorship is preferred.
- General knowledge of oil and gas production operations and related equipment.
- Proficiency with computers, field applications, and production monitoring systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and technical documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to accept ownership, accountability, and leadership responsibilities while driving operational excellence.
