Ovintiv is looking for a full-time Plant Operator within the Dawson North Facilities. This role requires an operator that strives to be a role model and fits within Ovintiv’s core values and drives for continuous operational excellence around safety, performance and culture.

  

The plants will consist of multiple gas trains processing upwards of 200mmscf/train, centrifugal compression, refrigeration, IFPEXOL dehydration, NGL handling and de-sanding equipment, reciprocating compression, water handling, condensate stabilization and associated pipeline networks. 

 

As a Plant Operator within Ovintiv you will promote the team vision and receive general direction from the Plant Lead Operator. You will have the knowledge, experience and required skills to safely and effectively coordinate all plant process operations at the Dawson North Facilities including plant safety, environmental programs and production performance. You will own and drive maintenance functions to ensure goals are met in safety, production and uptime.

  

The shift pattern is 7 days on, 7 days off working 12hrs/day.

 

 

Responsibilities 

 

  • Manage and Operate in a fast pace environment, aligning and setting daily priorities received from the Plant Lead Operator.
  • Effectively communicate with the shift leads and other operators in a way that builds a functional team to execute on all tasks. 
  • Influence a safe and efficient operation. 
  • Troubleshoot process problems and identify opportunities for improvement and optimization, working closely with Shift Lead and Lead Operator. 
  • Monitor and control plant and field processing conditions utilizing SCADA control systems. 
  • Maintain superior housekeeping standards throughout the plant process and control room areas. 
  • Understand and perform safety responsibilities such as hazard identification, equipment lock-out, emergency response; follow safe work procedures. 
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulatory requirements. Responsible for corrective action if required. 
  • Ensure work order and operations improvement processes are followed. 
  • Maintain proper documentation including plant log, maintenance records, safety and environment reports, etc. 
  • Assist with special projects, including turnarounds, planning, idea gathering sessions.
  • Track and maintain key performance indicators such as production, downtime and production losses. 
  • Assist in investigating and reporting incidents and accidents as requested.

 

 

Qualifications 

 

  • British Columbia or Inter-Provincial 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate with the ability to complete a 3rd class.
  • Previous experience working with Maximo is preferred.
  • Operational and Maintenance experience in gas compression, dehydration, and NGL recovery is preferred.
  • Proficient in use and application of PC programs specifically in Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Workday.
  • Experience identifying opportunities to leverage artificial intelligence tools to improve operational efficiency, workflows, and decision-making processes.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and open to take on a variety of operational challenges. 
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with proven analytical, trouble shooting and problem-solving skills. 
  • Team player with strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required. 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and make decisions in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license. 
  • Must live within the Dawson Creek catchment area.



In accordance with applicable law, the following represents Ovintiv's reasonable estimate of the hiring compensation range for this role. 

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $96,000 - $150,000  CAD


Compensation may vary and will be determined by the geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
