Manager, Venue Planning & Operations-Road Courses:

The Broadcast Integration (BRS) Team’s aim is to support the Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) in the preparation and planning of the most seamless, innovative, and engaging broadcast of the Games.

The BRS team is responsible for delivering high-quality facilities and services to the Media Rights Holders and OBS to ensure the best possible media coverage of the Games to the widest possible audience. To do this, the team liaises closely with OBS to manage planning processes related to broadcasting the Olympic and Paralympic Game. This includes hosting meetings and workshops, conducting surveys, and acting as the main point of contact with the other LA28 functional areas concerning the successful delivery of broadcast infrastructure at competition venues.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Broadcast Services, this role will support the Venue Operations team in liaising with OBS and LA28 functional areas on the planning and integration of broadcast requirements for all LA28 road course events, including the Marathon and Road Cycling to ensure the best coverage of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Successful candidates will have significant experience in broadcast or event management for road courses and a strong grasp of how broadcast needs are integrated into every phase of planning. In addition, they should be comfortable working cross-functionally to communicate requirements for Games-time broadcasters and aligning internal stakeholders to integrate those requirements into venue design and operational plans. To progress planning, this role will collaborate across all internal departments, external stakeholders, partner entities, and consultants to enable and deliver broadcast services s in the lead up to the Games Period and throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Key Responsibilities:

Specialized Road Course Broadcast Management

  • Lead the integration of all broadcast requirements for road course events.
  • Develop comprehensive broadcast operational plans that account for the unique challenges of road courses, including mobile production platforms, RF transmission infrastructure, and extensive course coverage.
  • Coordinate complex city logistics, including aerial (helicopter) and ground (motorcycle, chase vehicles) coverage patterns.
  • Work with technology partners to ensure seamless integration of essential broadcast technology including audio splits, timing and scoring data, and robust redundancy plans to guarantee uninterrupted coverage.
  • Understand, review and optimize all broadcast delivery requirements with OBS.
  • Support all infrastructure and technical planning for broadcast services, including venue development of broadcast areas at competition venues.

Coordinate Contact for OBS

  • Coordinate communications with OBS and its Production and Planning teams.
  • Facilitate and support venue site surveys for OBS production teams and Media Right Holders.
  • Liaise with OBS and the LA28 functional areas to address venue-related broadcast needs.
  • Assist in planning and delivery of World Broadcaster Meetings.
  • Manage the exchange of information and timely submission of deliverables to OBS.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Establish strong working relationships with key Functional Areas (e.g., Venue Infrastructure, Venue Management, Technology, Hospitality & Ticketing, Sport, Games Operations) to fulfill broadcasting requirements.
  • Support Media Rights Holders with their implementation plans, ensuring alignment with venue infrastructure.
  • Assist in coordinating with local delivery partners to ensure readiness of broadcast venues for handoff to OBS and Media Rights Holders at Games time.
  • Work with OBS, IOC, and IPC to gather requirements, secure strategic alignment, streamline approvals, and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Ensure broadcast planning and services align with broader cross-functional timelines and objectives and coordinate milestones with LA28 functional areas, OBS, IOC, IPC and Media Rights Holders (as appropriate).

Background & Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience, preferably with 7+ years of experience in broadcast production and operations, with a significant portion dedicated to managing large-scale road course events (e.g., marathons, cycling races) or similar complex, mobile live productions
  • Experience working international broadcast organizations providing global coverage
  • Experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders and proven success at building excellent working relationships
  • Experience working across multiple functional areas

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office.
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.
  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.
  • Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.
  • Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The annual base salary range for this position is $88,000-$115,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
