Who you are:
We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Product Designer who will spearhead design, interaction and user experience efforts across Geotab’s applications. If you love technology, and are keen to join an industry leader — we would love to hear from you!
What you'll do:
As a Product Designer your key area of responsibility will be designing end-to-end experiences across various applications, such as MyAdmin, MyGeotab and Geotab Drive, playing a key cross-functional role between product and engineering in researching, building, iterating, and improving the design and experience for end users. You will need to work closely with UX Research, Product Management, Development, Data Science Team members, and cross-functional teams. To be successful in this role you will be a strong team-player with excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal relationship-building skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset comfortable in a flat organization. In addition, the successful candidate will have deep knowledge of product design (including common interaction patterns and responsive web application best practices), proficiency in UI design tools like Figma or Sketch, and the organizational ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
How you'll make an impact:
-
Lead research, ideation, and creation of our application interactions.
-
Partner with UX Research, Product Management, Development, and Data Science Team members during design and development to take broad conceptual ideas, understand user needs, and lead the design process into actionable designs and prototypes.
-
Map out user flows, wireframes, and prototypes for user testing, feedback, and deployment.
-
Dive deep into Customer/User experience to develop deep insights about user behaviours.
-
Conduct interviews, and collect feedback from end users and subject matter experts.
-
Work with cross functional teams to design, build, and roll-out products that deliver on the Geotab vision and strategy.
-
Use Design Principles, as well as existing visual frameworks to produce designs that are visually cohesive with the rest of Geotab's products, with a holistic consideration for the product's future.
-
Design web applications using industry best practices and existing visual frameworks.
-
Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.
-
Track design features and fixes from different subject matter experts.
-
Maintain compliance with AODA guidelines for site accessibility.
-
Support team with coding activities when needed (e.g. JavaScript, React).
-
Conduct concept and usability testing and gather feedback.
-
Create personas through user research and data.
-
Define the right interaction model and evaluate its success.
-
Ensure designs, code, and animations work in different browsers on different devices.
-
Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps.
-
Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs, and widgets.
-
Build page navigation buttons and search fields.
-
Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback.
-
Consistently demonstrate Geotab’s Core Values in all daily work and interactions.
-
Responsible for the contribution and maintenance of the departmental Wiki.
What you'll bring to the role:
-
1-5 years of relevant industry experience, including 2+ years of experience in an individual contributor role on a product, experience, or service design team.
-
Relevant Bachelor's Diploma/Degree (with preferred specialization in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a related field) or equivalent industry experience.
-
Deep knowledge of product design, common interaction patterns, associated trade-offs, and best practices for responsive web applications.
-
Proficiency in UI design tools such as Figma, Sketch, InVision, Principle, etc., alongside technical competence using Google Suite for business.
-
Proven ability to lead all aspects of the user-centered design process from conception to completion, with the flexibility to adapt to growing technology and market demands.
-
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders and engage effectively across all levels of the organization.
