Staff Software Engineer - Android(Java/Kotlin)

Why this role matters

In this role, you will play a critical part in shaping the technical direction of Ivanti’s Android platform and Mobile Device Management products. Your work will influence how enterprise customers securely manage mobile devices, protect data, and deliver productive user experiences at scale.

You will serve as a technical authority for Android architecture, guide key platform decisions, and mentor engineering teams as we continue to build secure, scalable, and high-performing mobile solutions for customers around the world.

What you’ll do

• Design, build, and evolve world-class Android systems for Ivanti’s Mobile Device Management products.
• Serve as a technical leader for Android platform architecture, long-term technical direction, and critical product components.
• Partner with product managers, designers, backend engineers, QA, and stakeholders to shape product vision and deliver seamless customer experiences.
• Define scalable approaches to mobile security, performance, authentication, storage, networking, provisioning, privacy, and application management.
• Write fast, secure, and maintainable Java and Kotlin code while contributing to high-quality Android user experiences.
• Lead technical initiatives, break down complex problems, review design work, and mentor engineers across teams.
• Evaluate emerging Android technologies, frameworks, and CI/CD practices, recommending where they can strengthen Ivanti’s engineering approach.

What you will bring

• 8+ years of object-oriented software engineering experience, with deep expertise in native Android development.
• Expert-level knowledge of Java and Kotlin, including concurrency, multi-threading, design patterns, and performance optimisation.
• Strong understanding of Android frameworks, platform internals, design guidelines, and development best practices.
• Experience building secure Android applications, including secure interprocess communication between Android apps.
• A track record of developing high-quality Android applications, ideally published on the Google Play Store.
• Experience with enterprise mobility, mobile security, provisioning, application management, or related Android platform capabilities.
• Good understanding of security concepts such as cryptography and PKI.
• Experience with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync protocol would be strongly preferred.
• Tech., M.Tech. in Computer Science, or equivalent relevant development experience.
