Overview Reporting to the Director, Operations – Poly, the Plant Manager is responsible for meeting the EH&S, quality, delivery, production, maintenance, full profit/loss goals for the facility. This position plays an integral role in the continued success of the company’s plastic injection molding and cold forming operations and provides vital cross functional management experience to lead an onsite management team. Responsibilities Ensures that the facility provides the highest quality products produced in the most efficient manner within budgeted costs. Manages systems to drive production schedules properly supporting the business. Manage personnel in a 24-hour manufacturing facility with continuous operations. Set facility economic and operational goals. Monitor performance levels of direct reports to objectives and, based on performance, initiate the appropriate follow-up action. Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure that policies and practices are fair and consistent; yet support a flexible work environment that can quickly adapt if production or customer requirements should suddenly change. Oversee Controller in annual budgeting process and quarterly bottoms up forecast. Manage facility to meet or exceed budget. Communicate CapEx needs to Corporate and secure needed funds to meet customer demand and comply with all environmental regulations. Periodically present facility progress to Corporate. Work to consistently (year on year) improve plant efficiency, CPU and quality. Benchmark other plastics manufacturing facilities and work towards implementation of best-in-class practices. Ensure adherence to all Corporate and Legal EH&S requirements. Actively support and manage continued reductions in accident rates Additional responsibilities as needed to support the team and company goals. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business preferred. 5+ years previous experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in a union environment is preferred. Proficient with MS Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, and Word) Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Competencies, Skills, Knowledge Knowledge of plastic injection molding or cold forming – preferred. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and workforce management skills. Experience managing employee performance, accountability, coaching, and disciplinary processes. Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and operational planning abilities. Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple operational priorities simultaneously. Drive accountability, urgency, and execution throughout the facility. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Qualified candidates must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and climb with minimal effort. ENVIRONMENT While some work will be performed in an office setting, the majority of the time the employee will be required to be in the manufacturing facility, where additional exposure is likely (heat, humidity). This is a full-time position, and working at the plant is required. TRAVEL Occasional travel may be necessary to fulfill business needs and support various projects and initiatives.
