About the Role
Aquia is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer with a strong front end focus to join our growing engineering team in support of state-level client delivery. This role provides surge capacity, engineering redundancy, and continuity of technical leadership on a full stack team. The ideal candidate brings deep front end expertise, comfort working across the stack, and a collaborative approach to solving complex, mission-driven problems.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain modern web applications with a primary focus on front end development, user experience, and accessibility
- Contribute to full stack development using ASP.NET Core MVC, with strong ownership of the presentation layer
- Implement and extend React, a11y, Typescript, and Next.js-based applications with clean, maintainable component architecture. ASP.NET, Blazor, or Razor experience are an added bonus!
- Ensure all front end work meets or exceeds federal accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.x and ARIA best practices
- Partner with security and identity teams to implement and maintain authentication and authorization patterns
- Collaborate with designers to prototype- Figma experience is a plus
- Provide engineering leadership and mentorship, contributing to code reviews, architecture discussions, and team standards
- Work effectively with agentic AI-assisted development tools as part of your day-to-day workflow
- Support continuity of delivery during periods of team transitions or increased project demand
What You Bring
Required:
- 5 or more years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong hands-on experience with React, a11y, Typescript, and Next.js, with potential proficiency with ASP.NET Core MVC for server-side development
- Solid command of modern CSS and responsive web development patterns
- Working knowledge of web accessibility standards, including ARIA, WCAG, and inclusive design principles
- Experience implementing security and authentication patterns in web applications (e.g., OAuth, OIDC, role-based access)
- Comfort integrating and working alongside agentic AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent)
Nice to Have:
- Experience with PA11Y or other automated accessibility testing tooling
- Familiarity with Razor views and Blazor components within the .NET ecosystem
