IAWAI is looking for a Property Advisor to provide essential operational support across our land and property rights portfolio. Working with a high value portfolio and supporting an extensive capital works programme, you’ll help keep our records accurate, ensure we meet statutory requirements, and drive value for money outcomes across the day-to-day running of the portfolio and acquisition programme. Reporting to the Principal - Commercial & Strategic Property, you’ll play an important role in maintaining the integrity of our portfolio and project information.
In this role, you’ll administer the IAWAI property portfolio, interpret legal documents, and make sure our property data is reliable and up to date. You’ll be the go-to person for keeping information organised and ensuring our systems support good decision-making across the wider organisation.
You’ll also work closely with senior team members on complex matters, gaining direct exposure to negotiations with a view to taking on your own property projects as your capability grows. - A genuine, demonstrable passion for building a long-term career in property, backed by a strong desire to learn and develop commercial acumen within a Council Controlled Organisation responsible for infrastructure delivery.
- A switched-on, energetic, and proactive work ethic with a clear focus on showing initiative and finding practical solutions.
- A foundational understanding of contemporary property matters, land administration, or local government property frameworks
- Exceptional attention to detail and high levels of accuracy, with a proven ability to manage complex property data, track critical dates, and review legal documentation precisely. Previous property management, contract administration, or property data management experience is highly advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside technical specialists and internal council stakeholders.
- Proven organisational, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ture Whaimana
- A relevant tertiary qualification is preferred (e.g. Property, Valuation, Survey, Law).
