Description of role:


We are looking for a Maintenance Electrician to join our on-site facilities team.

You'll be part of a close-knit group, supporting the day-to-day operations of our buildings and facilities.

The Role

You will work closely with our existing Maintenance team on a wide range of electrical work, including inspections, testing, fault-finding and repairs and minor installations.

Due to the nature of this role and the continuously evolving needs of the business, you'll find your days to be varied and sometimes unpredictable. As well as keeping the building operational, the requirements of the company continue to change and to grow. Sections of the building are regularly undergoing refurbishment and new facilities are created in line with project requirements.

You'll be part of a friendly, collaborative environment and work alongside colleagues across all departments, engineers, scientists, and support staff alike.

Responsibilities

Your day-to-day duties will be varied, but will typically include:

• Working with our existing electrician to carry out all electrical activities

• Performing electrical repairs, installations, inspections, testing, and fault-finding

• Maintaining accurate electronic records of testing and works carried out

• Organising and providing attendance for external contractors, liaising with the admin team and Manager

• Supervising service/maintenance contractors, particularly electrical and mechanical

• Investigating problems, implementing temporary fixes and arranging permanent solutions

• Contributing to general team activities including Health & Safety matters and broader maintenance duties

• Assisting with permit to work systems, including out-of-hours working

• Joining the out-of-hours response rota in line with current policy

• Supporting line managers with electrical technical knowledge

• Undertaking any reasonable tasks requested by your line manager


About you

We're looking for someone with the following qualifications and experience:
• Fully qualified electrician (C&G Level 2 in Electrical Installations/NVQ3 equivalent)
• IEE 18th Edition certification
• City & Guilds Electrical Inspection and Testing
• Hands-on experience across a broad range of electrical activities
• Practical construction/maintenance skills such as basic carpentry, plumbing or decorating
• Ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines
• Strong team player with a positive attitude and willingness to adapt
• Clear communication skills (polite, reliable, punctual, and self-motivated)
• Familiarity with Health & Safety and COSHH legislation
• Competent in basic numeracy, literacy, and computing
• Strong customer service mind-set
• Experience in large commercial or industrial facilities is a plus

Must be able to work in the UK without restrictions in accordance with UK National Law and be prepared to successfully undertake an appropriate level of UK National Security Vetting according to UK Government National Security Vetting criteria.

We provide training in key areas such as the use of hand tools, power tools, access equipment, and forklift trucks.
