Working arrangements: Hybrid working arrangements will be considered with a typical 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

Length of contract: 12 months

Extension term: 2x 12 months

Security clearance: Must be able to obtain Baseline clearance

Rates: $90 - $110 per hour (inc. super)

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) supports those who serve or have served in defence of our nation and their families. DVA is committed to delivering high-quality, client-focused services that improve health, wellbeing and independence.

The Prioritise Veterans' Wellness and Treatment Program is delivering enhanced capabilities to support veterans’ health through modern, evidence-based therapies, treatment pathways, and rehabilitation services.

This work requires coordinated change across DVA systems, processes, workforce capability, and engagement with the veteran community and service providers.

The Change Support Officer provides operational and delivery support to the Change Manager, contributing to the successful planning and implementation of change activities across the program.

The role supports stakeholder engagement, communications, training coordination, and benefits tracking. It also plays a key role in ensuring DVA staff and the veteran community are informed, prepared, and supported through program changes.

The position works with moderate direction and exercises sound judgement in managing competing priorities and delivering high-quality outputs.

Key duties may include, but are not limited to

  • Change Planning and Impact Support
  • Support the development and maintenance of change management plans and artefacts.
  • Assist in conducting change impact assessments across business areas and stakeholder groups.
  • Maintain registers (e.g. change impacts, risks, issues, stakeholders) and tracks progress.
  • Contribute to readiness activities and deployment planning.
  • Stakeholder Engagement Support
  • Assist in identifying and mapping stakeholders across DVA, service providers, and the veteran community.
  • Support delivery of stakeholder engagement activities, including workshops, forums, and consultations.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to gather feedback and support relationship management.
  • Ensure stakeholder information is accurately captured and reflected in planning.
  • Benefits Management Support
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the Benefits Realisation Plan.
  • Support collection and tracking of benefit data and performance measures.
  • Help prepare reports on benefits progress and risks to achievement.
  • Work with business areas to gather evidence of benefits realisation.
  • Communications Support
  • Draft and coordinate communication materials for internal and external audiences, including: •
  • Staff updates, newsletters, and intranet content
  • Stakeholder communications and fact sheets
  • Veteran-facing materials explaining changes to services
  • Ensure communications are clear, consistent, and aligned with DVA messaging.
  • Support communication scheduling and distribution across channels.
  • Monitor feedback and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Training and Capability Support
  • Assist in training needs analysis and coordination of training activities.
  • Support development of training materials such as guides, presentations, and eLearning content.
  • Coordinate training logistics, scheduling, and attendance tracking.
  • Collect and analyse training feedback to inform improvements.
  • Governance, Reporting and Team Support
  • Prepare reports, briefings, and updates for the Change Manager and program leadership.
  • Maintain documentation and records in line with DVA governance requirements.
  • Support program reporting cycles, including status update coordination, and secretariat services for Working Group and Delivery Committee fora.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support continuous improvement initiatives.
