The Dispatcher role is a fast-paced, demanding position focused on planning and coordinating the pickups and deliveries for our Saskatoon service area, including surrounding rural routes. We're looking to onboard a dedicated professional to join our team and help us meet or exceed our customers' expectations.

As a Dispatcher, you'll be the nerve center of our operations, ensuring smooth and efficient daily flow. Your key duties will include:

  • Load Planning & Coordination: Planning and coordinating all terminal pickups and deliveries, including LTL load planning and city/rural route planning.

  • Driver & Staff Supervision: Supervising City Drivers (and potentially brokers), providing direction, and delegating tasks effectively.

  • Communication & Customer Service: Consistently answering the phone and dealing with driver requirements (e.g., hook up information, delay updates, concerns). This includes communicating effectively with internal staff and external customers.

  • System Management: Working within the AS/400 platform to execute scheduling, track shipments for customers, and perform other necessary system tasks.

  • Documentation & Compliance: Printing labels, adding comments to justify non-service deliveries, and ensuring proper company policy and safety guidelines are followed.

  • Leadership & Safety: Demonstrating leadership, promoting a safety-minded culture, and assisting with appointment booking and rescheduling of priorities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have the skills and knowledge to hit the ground running in a dynamic environment.

  • Geographical Knowledge: Solid geographical knowledge of Cambridge and surrounding rural areas.

  • LTL Experience: Previous dispatch experience in an LTL environment.

  • Route Planning Expertise: Experienced with LTL load planning and city/rural route planning.

  • Technological Capability: Computer fluent, with the ability to understand and operate an AS/400 system and handheld devices.

  • AS/400 experience is a strong asset; we will train the right candidate.

  • Communication: Excellent phone and email communicator; polite, professional, and courteous in constant interaction with customers, drivers, and management.

  • Work Ethic: Proven ability to multitask effectively and thrive in a fast-paced environment while handling shift work.

  • Leadership: Demonstrated Team Leader capabilities and the ability to delegate effectively.

  • Safety-minded and possess a knowledge of TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods).

  • Previous or current Class 1 driving experience is an asset, but not necessary.

  • Attractive pay for the assistant dispatcher starting $27.84 to $36 per hour
  • The pay for the full dispatcher is based on experience
  • Comprehensive Benefits Program
  • Profit-Sharing Opportunities
  • Opportunities for growth and advancement
  • We would like to thank all those expressing an interest in this
position; however, only the candidates selected for an interview will
    be contacted.
