Adjunct Instructor: Introduction to Health and Wellness (EXSC 110), Exercise Science Program
Xavier University, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, is seeking candidates to join our pool of potential adjunct faculty for the 2026-2027 academic year. This posting is intended to collect applications for part-time, non-tenure track position for an Adjunct Instructor for Introduction to Health and Wellness.
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum qualifications to teach Introduction to Health and Wellness (EXSC 110) at Xavier University include a master’s or terminal degree or have taken 18 credit hours of graduate work, in the following fields: Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Nutrition, Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or Motor Behavior; or have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the exercise science field and a relevant certification in the field of exercise science, and/or previous teaching experience at an accredited college or university.
Preferred qualifications include work or teaching experience related to the foundational concepts of health and wellness that contribute to a healthy and fulfilling life. The Introduction to Health and Wellness course incorporates ethical, moral, and spiritual reflections of socially relevant health issues.
This position will include teaching one, three-credit hour class in the exercise science major on Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00AM – 12:45PM (Start date 8/17, End date 12/11). Contracts for adjunct faculty members are issued on a semester basis.
Duties include:
- Deliver in-person learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.
- Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons including an appropriate course syllabus clearly describing course expectations.
- Provide appropriate course assessments designed to adequately assess student’s learning in connection with Xavier’s Core Curriculum.
- Use Xavier’s campus-wide academic program, Canvas, to provide course information and an electronic record of student’s progress on a regular basis.
