To provide physical or corrective treatment of any musculoskeletal, skin, or neurological condition by use of physical, chemical, heat, light, water, sound, massage, and active, passive, and resistive exercise, and shall include physical therapy evaluation, treatment planning and modification, instruction and consultative services.Job Requirements, Prerequisites and Essential Functions:

Education:
B.A. or B.S. degree with completion of course work in a school or schools approved by the Physical Therapy Examining Committee so as to qualify for licensure by the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs
Experience:
One year as a licensed Physical Therapist in acute care hospital setting or equivalent preferred. A new graduate is acceptable unless a specific number of years experience is required at the time of hire due to the needs of the department
License and Certifications:
Physical Therapist Required at hire
Basic Life Support Required at hire
Integrative Agitation Management (IAM) Required within 30 days of hire
Prerequisite Skills:
Evaluation, accurate assessment, design of appropriate treatment plans, and execution of skilled treatment in keeping with current practices and their application in the field of physical therapy
Ability to read, speak, write, understand and follow English verbal and written instruction
Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work
Ability to complete documentation as per policy and procedure

Employees in this position have access to protected health information. The protected health information a person in this position can access includes demographics, date of service, insurance/billing, medical record summary information, and all other information that may be contained in patient records. This position requires patient health information to perform the functions outlined as part of this position description.
Duties And Responsibilities:
Essential (Not Modifiable)
On referral, assess and evaluate patients by administering various range of motion, muscle, neurological, visual, or functional tests or tools to determine degree of impairment and an appropriate treatment plan
Develop a treatment plan based on results of the evaluation, goals of patient, and those recommended by the physician; and make appropriate changes in treatment plan according to patient's performance
Administer direct safe patient care, utilizing physical therapy techniques as indicated
Provide instruction to patients, their families, and care givers regarding self-care and home programs
Act as a consultant to physician and other health care workers regarding physical function, treatment programs, precautions and adaptive equipment
Delegate and supervise patient treatment provided by non-professional and support personnel as follows:
In the use of Physical Therapy Assts. (Calif. Admin. Code Title 16 Ch. 13.2 Art. 4 Sect. 1398.44)
You are responsible at all times to provide supervision of work done by an assistant
Be present in the same facility with assistant at least 50% of any workweek
Perform and record evaluation of patient
Plan each patient’s program and determine which elements are to be performed by the assistant
Supervising PT shall review and co-sign final summary documentation by PTA the same day of discharge
Periodically re-evaluate treatment programs, and assistant’s and patient performance
No supervision of more than two assistants at any time
Secondary (Modifiable)
Suggest and, as authorized, introduce new methods and techniques
Keep abreast of current trends and developments in the field. Demonstrate evidence of continuously seeking, acquiring and updating professional knowledge and skills in Physical Therapy
Share execution of non-professional activities in the department, such as scheduling, charge slips, ordering supplies, maintenance of equipment, etc.
May act as Senior Therapist of Dept. in the absence of the Manager

The posted pay range complies with applicable law and reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Individual pay is set by skills, experience, qualifications, and internal/market equity, consistent with MarinHealth’s compensation philosophy.
